Abstract: A fire resistant and water resistant expansion joint system comprises a compressed lamination of fire retardant infused open celled foam, one coat of an elastomeric waterproofing or water resistant material on the lamination, and another coat of an intumescent material on an opposing surface of the lamination, thereby providing fire resistance in one direction and water resistance in the opposite direction. The intumescent material may be further coated with a similar elastomeric material, thereby providing fire resistance in one direction and water resistance in both directions. In the alternative, the compressed lamination may comprise first and second opposing layers of intumescent material thereon each having a respective layer of elastomeric material to provide both water resistance and fire resistance in both directions.
Abstract: A steel plate structure and a steel plate concrete wall are disclosed. A steel plate structure, which includes: a pair of steel plates, which are separated to provide a predetermined space; a structural member, which is positioned in the predetermined space, and which is structurally rigidly joined to one side of the steel plate in the direction of gravity; and a strut, which maintains a separation distance between the pair of steel plates, can be utilized to reduce the overall thickness of a steel plate concrete wall for efficient use of space, and to reduce the thickness of the steel plates for better welding properties and larger unit module sizes. Also, the axial forces or lateral forces applied on the steel plate concrete wall may be effectively resisted.

Each of the panels can be used either as a roof panel, a truss panel, a wall panel, a floor panel, a ramp panel, a perch panel, or a storage panel. Each of the couplers is for centering, aligning, coupling, and locking inside the tube ends of at least two panels, to prevent the panels from twisting, bending, and collapsing.
Abstract: The invention relates to a set of panels, in particular floor panels, comprising a first panel and at least a second panel. The panels are respectively provided with a first edge and with a second edge, wherein the first edge and the second edge are configured to establish a connection between the first and the second panel. The first edge can have a lower lip with a step, and the second edge can have a downwardly open locking groove. A separate clip can be provided which can be attached to the first edge or the second edge and has a moveable clip head, which in the connected state of the panels can cooperate with a locking surface on the second edge or the first edge, respectively, in order to lock the panels vertically relative to the plane of laying.
Abstract: A retaining wall having a plurality of courses of retaining wall blocks including a first upper course and a second lower course. Each retaining wall block has opposed front and rear faces, opposed first and second side surfaces, and opposed and substantially parallel upper and lower surfaces, and at least one weight bearing pad extends from one of the upper and lower surfaces. The at least one weight bearing pad extends substantially from the rear face to the front face of the block. The weight bearing pads are the only areas of contact between the blocks in the first upper course and the blocks in the second lower course.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for the controlled release of an active agent into an aqueous system for a prolonged duration of time are provided. Some embodiments provide an apparatus for controlling the dissolution of at least one active agent to enable an increase in active agent lifetime.
Abstract: Measured EER and COP are affected by the load under which an air conditioning, refrigeration or heating system is running; the load is a function of the evaporating and condensing temperatures. The invention makes adjustments for the purpose of maximizing measured EER and COP in a feedback loop utilized to optimize cooling or heating capacity relative to power consumed. The maximum EER is continuously achieved by incrementally adjusting each operating parameter to realize an incremental increase in EER, even as conditions such as ambient temperature are changing.

Abstract: A hybrid, vertical axis helical turbine assembly capable of providing unidirectional rotation under an omni-directional low speed obverse fluid flow (gas or liquid), respectively gas flow is disclosed. The assembly comprises a minimum (but not limited to) of three hybrid (airfoil enhanced helical vane profile) wings, which are substantially spaced from the vertical axis (Z) and circumferentially spaced from one another. Each hybrid wing is fixed to the center hub in a rigid position by two or more arms, which are symmetrically located from each other in conjunction with the hub's horizontal axis (X). The hybrid, vertical axis helical turbine assembly provides high torque at very low wind speed because of the absolute symmetric airfoil enhanced helical vane profile wing, which design maintain adaptive lift to drag ratio over the one rotational revolution time line in coincidence of the upwind direction.
Abstract: The present BBQ oven with controllable level position of charcoal chamber and inserts generally comprises a truncated spherical body including a thermometer and recesses for barbecuing food and/or insert holding rods in the upper portion of body, and the first necks (for control of the level position of the burning charcoal chamber, comprising a plate for charcoal), second neck (for an air flow control), sleeve and clamping member in the lower portion of the body.
Abstract: A protective barrier that will typically be installed beneath ceilings during construction work being performed on ceilings or roofs of buildings. The protective barrier can be comprised entirely of one material or of different materials connected by seams. Some or all of these materials can be designed to fail when contacted by water via dissolution, melting or through some other destructive process initiated by contact with water. Some or all of the materials comprising the protective barrier can be designed to fail at a certain temperature. This failure can create access points from the ceiling through the protective barrier to the area being protected by the barrier, which can allow water from a fire suppression system to reach a fire located below the protective barrier.
Abstract: A shocking cooler includes an ice chest cooler which has a lid and lower portion. A first conductor is located within the bottom portion and extrudes from one of the side interior surfaces of the ice chest cooler. A second conductor is located near a lower lip region, and is separated a distance from the first conductor. The first conductor and second conductor are joined to a power supply at alternate connections (either positive (+) or negative (?)) by connection cable(s). The power supply is connected to a switch, which allows the shocking ice chest cooler to be turned on or off. Water is introduced to the ice chest cooler, and is in contact with the first conductor. When a burglar attempts to reach into the ice chest cooler, his hand is immersed into the water, thereby completing the circuit and issuing an electrical shock.
