    Abstract: A mailing list is created including destination addresses for mailpieces to be submitted to a carrier service for delivery. A unique mailpiece identifier associated with mailpieces on the mailing list is generated by the carrier or other trusted third party. The unique mailpiece identifier is printed on the mailpiece with which it is associated. The -mailpieces with the printed unique identifier are submitted to the carrier service. The carrier service obtains the printed unique identifier from the mailpiece. The obtained unique identifier from each said mailpiece is utilized to verify that data associated with the mailpiece has been processed by the carrier or trusted third party. When the unique number has been obtained from the mailpieces, the carrier service, if desired, may note this fact in the carrier records to prevent reuse of the unique identifier.

    Abstract: A generic process control routine for a process control system is written to include alias names and dynamic reference parameters. Before execution of a process control function on a particular unit of the process control system, an instance of the generic routine is created, in which the alias names are replaced by parameters defined in an alias resolution table for the particular unit. The controller then executes the instantiated version of the generic routine to control operation of the unit. The generic routine can have multiple algorithms associated therewith, wherein each of the algorithms is designed to control different units having somewhat different hardware, even though these different units perform essentially the same function within the process control system. The generic routine may also be used with multiple classes of hardware that perform different functions within the process control system.

In accordance with one aspect of the invention, when model uncertainty is incorporated, the linear program associated with the steady-state target calculation can be recast as a highly structured nonlinear program. In accordance with another aspect of the invention, primal-dual interior point methods can be applied to take advantage of the resulting special structure. For a system having characteristic gain parameters G having a known uncertainty description, the present invention provides a method and apparatus for selecting steady-state targets for said system-manipulated variables such that all system-controlled variables will remain feasible at steady-state for all possible values of the parameters G within the known uncertainty description.

Accordingly, different pieces with the same dimension cut from different program routines during the same production run are unloaded to the same location of the unloader area. Optimization of the unloading process and optimal utilization of the available loading space are thereby achieved.
