Abstract: A communication device is provided for enabling a TV viewer to transmit signals towards a service provider. The communication device comprises: a user interface adapted to receive input signal from the TV viewer; a transceiver adapted to communicate wirelessly with a service provider via a remote server; and a TV interface adapted to allow forwarding of signals received from a TV source and of signals received from a service provider, towards a TV device of the TV viewer. Preferably the signals received from both sources are displayed simultaneously within different viewing windows at the screen of the TV device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for presenting, a service application including dynamic icons. The systems and methods may generate for display first and second service applications represented by first and second media assets, respectively. The systems and methods may receive a user selection of a service state of the first application and determine, for the first application, one of a first and one of a second plurality of media assets available on the first and second service application, respectively, corresponding to the service state. The systems and methods may replace the first and second media assets with the fourth and fifth media assets respectively, wherein the fourth and fifth media assets correspond to the one of a first and one of a second plurality of media assets, respectively.

Abstract: A computing device includes memory for storing commercial metadata and offer metadata harvested from within an offer distribution network. A processor compares the commercial metadata related to a broadcast commercial to be streamed to a client media device with the offer metadata related to available offers from offer providers, to generate a comparison. The processor then selects an offer from the available offers based on the comparison; determines when and over what video stream the broadcast commercial is to be streamed; detects that a screen device is paired to the client media device; and delivers the offer to a display of the screen device during streaming of the broadcast commercial over the video stream to the client media device. When a user of the screen device selects an indicia of the offer, the offer is collected into a virtual wallet from which the offer can be redeemed in various ways.

In some implementations, methods for presenting media content in response to a channel change request are provided, the methods comprising: causing media content provided on a first channel to be presented in a first display area on a first screen; receiving, at a hardware processor, a request to switch to a second channel; in response to receiving the request to switch to the second channel, causing thumbnail content corresponding to the second channel to be presented in the first display area; determining whether media content provided on the second channel is ready for presentation; and in response to determining that the media content provided on the second channel is ready for presentation, causing the media content provided on the second channel to be presented in the first display area.

In some implementations, methods for remote rendering of Web content on a television device are provided, the methods comprising: sending a request for the Web content to a server, receiving, at a source device, a response corresponding to the request; generating a set of drawing commands based on the response; obtaining at least one encoded image based on the response; presenting the Web content on the source device; generating a plurality of content layers corresponding to the Web content, wherein the plurality of content layers including a first content layer comprises the set of drawing commands and a second content layer comprises the encoded image; transmitting the plurality of content layers; and causing the Web content to be presented on the television device based on the plurality of content layers.

Abstract: A method for receiving additional information from a device in a broadcast communication system is provided. The method includes receiving broadcast information provided from a broadcast service provider over a broadcast channel, extracting application information from the broadcast information, acquiring location information for the additional information associated with a broadcast content from the application information, and transmitting the location information for the additional information to a peer device for displaying the additional information.

Abstract: A group-controlled audio entertainment system provides each member of a group with the ability to rapidly select an audio clip from a menu of canned audio clips, and to cause an audio speaker to timely play the selected audio clip in a room where the group is watching a sporting event. The menu of audio clips is chosen to include a variety of sound recordings that fans will consider amusing or pertinent to certain types of sporting events, such as pre-recorded “trash-talk” clips. The system also allows users from remote locations to send audio clips to the audio speaker, to thereby “trash talk” during game time. Remote users can record audio clips and then forward them to the group-controlled audio speaker, or can send text and/or email messages to the group-controlled speaker that the system converts to corresponding audio.

The nodes include user nodes that are each associated with a particular user of the social-networking system. In one example, a method includes an automation-system (AS) selecting a log entry including (i) a first identifier that maps to a first VC, and (ii) a second identifier that maps to a second VC; a recording-and-playout device (RAPD) retrieving the first VC; the RAPD sending the retrieved first-VC to an encoder; the encoder generating a first transport-stream (TS) having (i) program-identification (PID) data, and (ii) payload data including the sent first-VC; the encoder sending the generated first-TS to a first outbound-broadcast device (OBD); the encoder sending the generated first-TS to a transport-stream splicer; the AS loading the splicer with the second VC; the splicer generating a second TS having (i) the PID data of the generated first-TS, and (ii) payload data including the loaded second-VC; and the splicer sending the generated second-TS to a second OBD.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and apparatus for maintaining a packet count in stateless multiplexing systems. Multimedia streaming formats employ roll-over packet counters, such as the continuity counter (CC) for stream data associated with a particular packet identifier (e.g., a packetized elementary stream) in an MPEG transport stream. In one embodiment, an input stream is broken into segments of a given duration. Output segments are generated based on input segments (e.g., as in distributed transcoding systems). For a given output segment, additional packets are generated and inserted into the stream to force the packet counter for each packet identifier (PID) to end on a predetermined value. The ending predetermined value is preferably contiguous to the starting predetermined value at which the counter began that output segment. The first packet for a given PID in output segments can thus start the packet counter on a known value—i.e., the starting predetermined value.

Abstract: Features are provided for the identification of objects in content, such as video content, by analyzing data regarding viewer interactions with other content. The interaction data can be analyzed to identify correlations between time periods of the video (or the video in general) and items that are the subject of, or otherwise associated with, other content with which viewers interact. These correlations can be used to provide, to subsequent viewers of the video, information regarding the items shown in the video, recommendations regarding items or content that may be of interest to subsequent viewers of the video, etc.

The broadcast receiving device includes: a data storage unit; a communication unit configured to receive a first electronic program guide (EPG) through a broadcast network and to receive a second EPG through the Internet; and a controller. Abstract: A history of user listening patterns associating geographic locations with media stations is stored and used to aid in selecting a media station. If a media station associated with a current geographical location is available, that station can be automatically tuned by a wireless media receiver. If a media station associated with the current location is not available, an alternate media station that is available at the current geographical location can be selected, and the receiver tuned to the alternate station. The alternate station can be an over-the-air (OTA) station or an Internet Protocol (IP) station. A user can be allowed to select between alternate stations having comparable content, or the user can designate a default alternate station. User listening patterns can be used to determine whether a media station is associated a particular geographic location.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for providing a content, the method including extracting at least one still image from video included in the content, extracting audio, which corresponds to the still image, and generating a script corresponding to the audio, adding a caption to the still image based on the generated script, and providing the content in response to a request of consumption to the content and providing the caption-added still image for the video that is streaming in real time.

Further, the user interfaces provide unique process of transitioning between the content.

Abstract: Provided are systems and methods for using an existing management server infrastructure to deliver video-on-demand or streaming content, including real-time live streaming. Existing client content playback devices, such as IPTVs, may be employed to stream content items, obtain advertisements, track user's viewing behaviors, and the like. By reusing existing client devices, there is no need for additional hardware purchases on the user side. By reusing existing management server infrastructures, capital expenses are also reduced. In such a system, a user can watch both video-on-demand and streaming audiovisual content.
