  • Patent number: 5277853
Abstract: Method for continuously forming concrete blocks or pavers includes a frame for defining a supporting structure with a mold box flexibly mounted thereon, the mold box having internal cavities contoured to define preselected block patterns, wherein a feed device for receiving concrete material is operable for selective positioning over an upper surface of the mold box for investing concrete material into the cavities. First and second sets of vibrators are mounted, respectively, generally at opposite ends of the mold box means and are operable for being selectively driven by associated first and second power drives. The first and second power drives are selectively operable for synchronizing or independently actuated the first and second sets of vibrators, respectively, so that concrete material invested into the cavities of the mold box may be vibrated so that the concrete material is evenly distributed in substantially equal masses throughout the cavities in the mold box.

  • Patent number: 5271728
Abstract: An apparatus for forming shaped material from a raw material employs a substantially cylindrical housing 3 with a screw shaft 2 arranged in it. A frontal end surface of the housing, located at the downstream end is closed by a counter-pressure member 9 which, together with the housing 3, limits a discharge opening. The counter-pressure member is held against conveyed material by a force of predetermined magnitude acting opposite the conveying direction. Surprisingly, this results in a high compactness and a good stability of shape of the shaped material, and also facilitates a starting of such an apparatus. Removable teeth define an orifice.

  • Patent number: 5256050
Abstract: An apparatus for spinning bicomponent sheath/core filaments having a distributor plate and spinnerette and a shim positioned between the distributor plate and spinnerette to effect a controlled pressure drop of the sheath polymer material. In particular, the distributor plate and spinnerette each have a plurality of spaced core polymer flow passages and sheath polymer passages wherein the respective core polymer flow passages are axially aligned and the respective sheath polymer flow passages are aligned. The shim is positioned between the spinnerette and distributor plate to control the sheath polymer flow from the outlet of the distributor sheath polymer flow passages to the inlet of each spinnerette core polymer flow passage separately. Producing sheath/core bicomponent fibers using this apparatus results in fibers having concentric sheath/core configurations and increased throughput.

  • Patent number: 5248355
Abstract: An apparatus for applying heat sensitive labels and pressure sensitive labels wherein the apparatus can be readily changed to apply heat sensitive labels or pressure sensitive labels from a web along which the labels are positioned. In one mode for applying heat sensitive labels, the web is moved from a feed reel adjacent a preheater and a platen where successive labels are peeled from the web and applied to successive containers on a turret and thereafter the web is stored on a take-up reel. In a second mode, the preheater and platen are removed, a peel bar assembly is positioned in place of the platen, and the web with the labels thereon is moved about the peel bar assembly to peel a label from the web and apply the pressure sensitive label to an article on the turret and the web is thereafter redirected to the take-up reel.
