  • Patent number: 4925020
Abstract: A container package including a series of similarly configured containers maintained in adjacent relation by a series of interconnected rings formed from a resilient deformable material each surrounding one of the containers of the container package. A plastic strip that passes through a loop located on a container and attaches to its surrounding ring, or a bracket attached to the container straddling the ring, provides a permanent connection between each container and its surrounding ring. The rings are weakened either side of the connection so that on removal of a container from a ring the stress caused to the ring by the connection to the container ruptures the ring. This prevents wildlife from becoming entangled in unruptured rings of plastic carriers once the package is discarded.

  • Patent number: 4921100
Abstract: A shipping rack with a rack latch assembly capable of holding a plurality of vehicle parts, such as door panels, in separated arrangement during shipping and which allows easy removable of the parts and is reusable. The shipping rack is also adaptable to ship parts having slight dimensional variations in height. The door panels are supported in a vertical direction by engagement of the underside of the upper overturned flange of the door panel. Dunnage bars restrain movement of the door panel in a lateral direction and a holding bar is used to secure the lower portion of the door panel against longitudinal movement. A latching assembly is provided for securing the lower horizontally extending flange against movement in an upward direction. The latching assembly includes latching elements with a pair of vertically spaced horizontally extending arms for engaging the lower flange of door panels having slightly different vertical lengths.

  • Patent number: 4917237
Abstract: A system for introducing a flowable additive (3) from a capsule (1) to paint (4), varnish, woodstain or the like in a closed (preferably lidded) container (2) (for example a paint container) modified by the provision of a relatively easily openable inlet (9) into the container. Preferably the inlet is located in a lid (6). The Capsule comprises a chamber (23) which defines a volume which contains the additive. The system is provided with means (25 and 34) for creating an opening in the chamber which can communicate with the inlet and means (preferably a compressible chamber) for positively expelling additive through the opening by contracting the volume which contains the additive. The capsule and container are also provided with co-operable locating means (10 and 30 with 25) which can co-operate to assist in locating the opening created in the chamber in communication with the inlet. Also a capsule and a closed container for use in the system and a method of introducing additive using the system.

  • Patent number: 4915219
Abstract: The disinfecting toothbrush container for holding the toothbrush and disinfecting the bristles of the toothbrush comprises a container body having a plurality of container chambers formed by dividing the container body by a plurality of substantially vertical container chamber walls. The container chambers are divided transversely by a substantially transverse flexible rubber partition having a slit in each of the container chambers large enough for insertion of the toothbrush. The transverse flexible partition divides each container chamber into an upper portion containing air and a lower portion containing a disinfecting liquid. The lips of each of the slits are firm enough to prevent dirt and germs from the air from entering the disinfecting liquid and flexible enough to sneeze the disinfecting liquid from the bristles of the toothbrush when the toothbrush is drawn through the slit. A reusable lid which can provide a liquid-tight closure is also provided.

  • Patent number: 4911290
Abstract: A container package comprising an array of cans, each of which has an annular bead on the upper end thereof and a carrier. The carrier includes a sheet of flexible plastic material having a plurality of openings forming an array for receiving the ends of the cans a film of plastic material coextensive with the sheet and bonded to the periphery of the sheet so that it is flat and taut on the sheet. The cans are inserted upwardly into the openings and retained by the carrier by flexing of the periphery of each opening upwardly against the chime or bead of each can. As the cans are inserted, the film is stretched so that it is taut about the upper ends of the cans. The film is stretched substantially flat and taut from one peripheral edge to an opposite peripheral edge. The carrier thus protects the cans from contaminants. The carrier supports the array of the cans so that the upper ends of the cans are in a single plane when the package is lifted through finger openings in the film and sheet.
