Abstract: The invention relates to cement compositions and methods of use for cementing oil and gas and/or geothermal wells which reduce thermal thinning of slurries at elevated downhole temperatures. To combat thermal thinning, latex is added to a cement slurry without a latex stabilizing surfactant resulting in a slurry having low mixing viscosity and good solids suspension properties at downhole temperatures.
Abstract: An abrasive tape comprises a flexible substrate and an abrasive layer, which is overlaid on the flexible substrate and which is primarily constituted of abrasive grains and a binder. The abrasive grains are composed of first abrasive grains and second abrasive grains. The first abrasive grains and the second abrasive grains are constituted of at least one type of angular grains which are selected from the group consisting of Cr.sub.2 O.sub.3, SiC, and Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, and which are obtained from a pulverizing process. The mean grain diameter of the first abrasive grains falls within the range of 6 .mu.m to 9 .mu.m. The mean grain diameter of the second abrasive grains falls within the range of 4 .mu.m to 6 .mu.m. The binder is contained in a proportion falling within the range of 10% by weight to 30% by weight with respect to the abrasive grains. A 40% by weight to 65% by weight portion of the binder is constituted of a polyisocyanate.
Abstract: A high alumina ceramic composition has controlled small amounts of MgO and CaO. When refractories made from the composition are fired, the alumina and MgO react to form spinel. The CaO promotes such reaction while minimizing undesirable expansion, and results in a refractory having significantly improved hot strength and other desirable physical properties.
Abstract: A method is provided for improving the optical performance of fluorescent coatings. The appearance of fluorescent coatings is improved by the use of hollow polymer particles which scatter ultraviolet light and shorter wavelength visible light. These hollow polymer particles may be employed as an additive in a fluorescent coating, as an additive in a basecoat onto which a conventional fluorescent coating is applied, or as an additive in both the fluorescent coating and the basecoat onto which the fluorescent coating is applied.
Abstract: A recording liquid, comprising a recording agent which is a component that forms a recorded image and a liquid medium in which said recording agent is dissolved or dispersed, wherein said recording agent comprises a dye represented by the Formula (A) ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, a methoxy group, a chloro group, a sulfonic acid group; X represents a residual group of an organic acid; and M represents a base selected from the group consisting of an alkali metal group, an ammonium group, and an organic amine group and at least one dye selected from the group consisting of C.I. Abstract: Provided is an ink composition which comprises a fluorescent dye. The ink composition is useful in tagging for subsequent identification various articles having a polymeric or porous organic or inorganic surface. The ink composition comprises a non-fluorescent ink such as a black ink, a fluorescent dye, and a solvent for the fluorescent dye, which solvent swells and impregnates the surface of the article thereby permitting impregnation of the article by the fluorescent dye. The resulting tagged article has a printed surface with a fluorescent dye impregnated within the article directly beneath the printing on the surface. Identification of the article can then take place by removing printed material, and subjecting the article to UV irradiation. Observing a bright fluorescent color characteristic of the fluorescent dye used confirms the authenticity of the article.

Abstract: The present invention employs poly(ethyloxazoline) as a temporary binder and lubricant during the preparation of greenware articles. According to the present invention, molten poly(ethyloxazoline) promotes the compressibility of the powder used to form the greenware article, thus improving the density and strength of both the greenware and the abrasive article. The molten poly(ethyloxazoline) acts as a lubricant to permit a more efficient grain rearrangement under applied pressure and thereby increases the average density of the greenware article by 6 to 8 percent as compared to standard cold pressing.
