  • Patent number: 7940657
Abstract: Described are computer-based methods and apparatuses, including computer program products, for identifying attackers on a network. A data packet is filtered by a multi-tiered filtering and transmission system. Data packets matching the first tier filter are discarded. Data packets matching the second tier filter are transmitted to an output module based on a criterion. Data packets in the third tier filter are hashed into bins and data packets matching an entry in the bin are transmitted to the output module based on a criterion for the bin. Data packets in the fourth tier transmission system are transmitted to the output module based on a criterion. Data packets that do not meet the criterion for transmission to the output module are transmitted to an attack identification module which analyzes the data packets to identify attacks.

  • Patent number: 7936675
Abstract: A bandwidth packing rate control technique includes altering bandwidth allocations of existing flows on a link depending on a current utilization of a current bandwidth allocation for a flow. A disclosed example decreases the bandwidth allocation for flows that are utilizing a current bandwidth allocation below a selected target utilization rate. Flows with higher utilization can receive increased bandwidth allocation, which provides increased throughput for such flows. One overall result of a disclosed example is increased utilization and increased throughput using existing bandwidth resources.

  • Patent number: 7936781
Abstract: The present invention provides a bandwidth control apparatus, a bandwidth control method, and a bandwidth control system for effective utilization of bandwidths resource in data transmission. The bandwidth control apparatus measures downstream effective bit rate of own access lines and notifies downstream effective bit rate information of each access line to a remote bandwidth control apparatus which communicates with the bandwidth control apparatus via a network. The bandwidth control apparatus allocates and controls upstream bandwidths of own access lines on the basis of corresponding downstream effective bit rate information of access lines notified from remote bandwidth control apparatus via the networks.

  • Patent number: 7933198
Abstract: A virtual router spans a number of physical routing devices. One of the physical routing devices is designated as master, and the other physical routing devices are designated as backups to the master. A failover protocol that includes both a non-dampened state and a dampened state can be implemented. According to the failover protocol, an attempt to designate one of the backups as master in place of the current master is permitted while the virtual router is in the non-dampened state, while such an attempt is suppressed while the virtual router is in the dampened state.

  • Patent number: 7933243
Abstract: A random access procedure between a mobile terminal and a network is performed based upon the characteristics of a RACH preamble. If the RACH preamble was explicitly signaled by the network, a downlink channel is monitored until a new transmission is indicated according to radio resource allocation information received from the network. If the RACH preamble was not explicitly signaled by the network, a contention resolution timer is started and the downlink channel is monitored until the contention resolution timer expires. Such monitoring of downlink channels in a more efficient manner, results in effective reduction in power consumption.

  • Patent number: 7933291
Abstract: A system is presented that enables applications in a distributed system to communicate through a channel-based communication system. The applications use adaptors which communicate through a communication mechanism, resulting in application independence from the communication mechanism. In one embodiment, the communication mechanism consists of transmission media, logical channels, and brokers. The adaptors communicate with each other over the transmission media. Groups of adaptors involved in a particular type of communication from a communication channel. Channel profiles, which include channel properties and a list of adaptor members, are stored in brokers which can be queried by adaptors. Adaptors can support channel-specific data processing operations specified in the channel profile. Adaptors can join a channel, leave a channel, and communicate with other adaptors over the channel.

  • Patent number: 7929441
Abstract: A method and system of assigning DSP resources in a voice gateway which first seeks to assign the calls to DSPs on a best fit basis using information in a best fit (BF) pool. If a call can not be assigned on a BF basis, the call is assigned to a DSP based on information in a load balancing (LB) pool. The BF pool indicates which DSPs will be completely loaded by calls using various codecs and which DSPs have calls that have a first channel penalty (FCP). The LB pool indicates the number of calls each DSP is handling.

  • Patent number: 7929461
Abstract: A method of measuring bus traffic on a controller area network (CAN) is described. Accordingly, in one embodiment, a digital oscilloscope acquires the CAN bus signal in the form of a waveform in real-time. The waveform is converted into a bit stream, and the bitstream is analyzed to carry out various measurements in a CAN measurement system. The method may be used for continuous monitoring of bus traffic and measuring of various parameters related thereto, such as bus occupancy by a particular node. The acquired data may be analyzed for measuring bus occupancy by various types of CAN message frames. The user is presented with a data display and a graphical display of the measurements. Also, the user is allowed to enter an identifier for a node to obtain measurements relating to that particular node.

  • Patent number: 7929449
Abstract: System, method and program product for determining a cause of a failure of a communication from a source device to a destination device. A preferred route from the source device to the destination device comprises a series of routers in a forward order. First program instructions determine one or more initial routers in the series in the forward order from the source device toward the destination device. A last of the initial routers does not designate a next router in the series in the forward order toward the destination device. Second program instructions determine the series of routers in a reverse order from the destination device toward the source device.

  • Patent number: 7929533
Abstract: An address resolver system that assists a node in an IPv6 network to select an address for connectivity with a node in an IPv4 network when both DSTM and NAT-PT transition mechanisms are available. Native connectivity can be achieved by preferring an encapsulation or tunnelling mechanism such as DSTM where possible over a translation mechanism such as NAT-PT. A range of encapsulation and translation mechanisms are envisaged. The resolver determines capabilities of the node and of the application that requires the address in order to make the selection.
