  • Patent number: 7907539
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided wherein call-blocking probability of a telecommunications system is calculated based on consideration of over flow paths and alternate routes. Once the routes and overflow pathways are identified, the total number of call attempts and calls failed, due to congestion, is determined from statistical route data. Dividing the number of failed calls due to congestion by the number of attempted calls results in the blocking proportion for each route that is used by the methods disclosed herein to calculate the probability of blocking for that route.

  • Patent number: 7907557
Abstract: The disclosed methods of low power communications facilitate high speed reception of data from an access point (AP) with low transmission latencies while remaining in power save mode as long as possible. The disclosed methods allow the client to remain in a power save state and involve creating a synchronous client frame exchange with the AP that is independent of a digital traffic indication map and the AP's beacon interval. Two methods to accomplish this goal are disclosed: one which involves sending PS Poll Frames; and one that includes fast CAM switching, both at a self tuning frequency.

  • Patent number: 7903586
Abstract: In an embodiment, a method is disclosed for operating a network having a group of bridges connected together to form a ring, each bridge having two ports assigned to the ring to form a group of ring ports. The claimed embodiment includes forwarding information through the ring according to one or more spanning tree instances, each instance designating one of the group of ring ports as a respective alternate port that is in a state of discarding. Responsive to learning of a failure by a bridge within the ring, a determination is made, for each spanning tree instance, whether the bridge contains a respective alternate port and if the bridge contains a respective alternate port, changing the state of the respective alternate port to forwarding.

  • Patent number: 7903641
Abstract: Service resource items for use in call setup in a telephone system are held on servers that are connected to a computer network which is logically distinct from the telephone system infrastructure; this computer network may, for example, make use of the Internet. Each service item is locatable on the network at a corresponding URI and is associated with a particular telephone number. A mapping is provided between telephone numbers and the URIs of associated service resource items. When it is desired to access a service resource item associated with a particular telephone number, this mapping is used to retrieve the corresponding URI which is then used to access the desired service resource item.

  • Patent number: 7899074
Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and method for controlling multi-channel access in USN-based MAC. The multi-channel access control apparatus includes a channel scanner, a control channel preoccupier, and an available channel exchanger. The channel scanner scans at least one or more available channels among the N data channels in a Tx sensor node. The control channel preoccupier preoccupies, in the Tx sensor node, the control channel through control channel sensing and back-off and broadcasts a preamble on the control channel periodically. The available channel exchanger detects, in an Rx sensor node, the available channels available to the Tx sensor node on the basis of the received preamble, selects a channel available to the Rx sensor node among the detected available channels, and transmits information about the selected channel to the Tx sensor node.

  • Patent number: 7889650
Abstract: A method for establishing a Diameter session for packet flow based charging with multiple ways for establishing the Diameter session between a TPF and a CRF. The Diameter session can be established for each bearer of each subscriber, which means that for GPRS the Diameter session is established for each PDP Context State Model of each subscriber. The Diameter session can also be established for the bearers with a same APN of each subscriber. The Diameter session can further be established for all the bearers of each subscriber. The invention improves the mechanism for establishing Diameter sessions and makes the implementation of the charging flow more integrated. Moreover, the multiple ways for establishing Diameter sessions between the TPF and the CRF provided in the present invention can be flexibly selected according to the practical charging applications.

  • Patent number: 7885200
Abstract: A graphic user interface facilitates the hierarchical analysis of timing parameters related to network-based applications. At the top level of the hierarchy, the user is presented a summary of the delays incurred while running an application, or while simulating the running of an application, organized by delay categories, including processing delays at each node, as well as propagation delays at each link between nodes. The interface enables a user to “drill down” into lower levels of the timing information hierarchy by ‘clicking’ on currently displayed information. The information is presented in a form most appropriate to the level of analysis. The presentation forms include, for example, pie-charts, multi-variable timing diagrams (in both absolute and relative forms), data exchange charts, and so on, and ‘zoom’ capabilities are provided as appropriate to the particular display form.

  • Patent number: 7885270
Abstract: Described are computer-based methods and apparatuses, including computer program products, for statistical multiplexing of compressed video streams. A deadline of a packet of a compressed video stream is computed based on a program clock reference value of the packet. A plurality of packets, which includes the packet, is sorted based on deadlines corresponding to the packets. A next packet from the sorted plurality of packets is selected, the next packet having a corresponding deadline nearest to a system clock time. The next packet is transmitted.
