  • Patent number: 5884449
Abstract: A method for providing a roof structure of the type having a plurality of purlins spaced apart from one another in a parallel arrangement is disclosed. A first section of the roof structure, which includes purlins, a support sheet, insulation material, and hard roofing material, is completed. A carriage is then moved in a first direction along the length of the purlins and away from the first section of the roof structure to define a gap between the completed first section and the carriage. The movement of the carriage pays out a support sheet from the carriage so that the support sheet depends from adjacent purlins in the gap. A wind barrier, which is in a generally horizontal position to prevent wind from blowing vertically through the gap, is provided, thereby hindering wind disturbance of the support sheet.

  • Patent number: 5871026
Abstract: A two layers half automatic foldable tent is comprised of a framework, an umbrella surface, and a tent cloth. The framework is enclosed on the outside of the tent, while the umbrella surface is expanded on the framework above the tent cloth, wherein the framework is presented as an expanding structure. The opening and closing of the umbrella frame is completed by a controlling rope. Any user may easily install the tent, the lower primary frame of the umbrella frame may be folded upwards as the framework is closed, thus it may be stored conveniently and may be carried. Another, since in the present invention, the umbrella surface and tent cloth are designed as the two layers type thus the sunlight, rain water and snow will not contact the tent directly, and the people within the tent will be safe and comfortable and the lifetime of a tent is prolonged.

  • Patent number: 5871024
Abstract: The umbrella frame is provided with a movable yoke at the upper end and a stationary yoke at an intermediate point. Ribs are pivotally mounted on the movable yoke and struts are pivotally mounted on the fixed yoke while being pivotally mounted to intermediate points on the ribs. A downward movement of the upper yoke causes the ribs to splay outwardly so as to open the umbrella. An articulated lever and link arrangement is connected to one rib and strut unit so that actuation of the lever causes the upper yoke to be pulled downwardly to open the umbrella. Passage of the lever by a bottom dead center position effects locking of the movable yoke in the lowered position.

  • Patent number: 5867965
Abstract: A fully portable, self-contained tile setting machine has a battery driven vibrator and a manually actuable suction pad with which the tile is secured. Out-rigger arms provide visual datum by which the tile in-process can be set level with two adjoining, previously set tiles or other reference surfaces, and a manual release of the suction pad permitting unimpeded removal of the setting machine from the just-set tile. The degree of vibration of the machine is adjustable, to permit modulation of the extent of vibration imparted to the tile, in setting it.

  • Patent number: 5865008
Abstract: A structural section for use in frame construction where the section includes a horizontal segment and a pair of spaced apart legs. Each leg has a first end portion attached to the horizontal segment, a second end portion opposite the horizontal segment, and a flange that extends inward from the second end portion toward the center line of the structural section. Each leg further includes a longitudinal surface located between the first end portion and the second end portion. The longitudinal surface is positioned inboard of the flange so that the distance between opposed flanges that extend along each leg of the structural section is greater than the distance between opposed longitudinal surfaces that extend along each leg of the structural section.

  • Patent number: 5862639
Abstract: An earthquake, fire and wind resistant pre-fabricated building panel comprises a plurality of frame members. The frame members are connected together to form a frame lying in a frame plane, the frame defining a perimeter of the panel, the perimeter bounding an interior portion of the panel. At least some of the frame members are biased inwardly, generally in the frame plane, towards the interior portion of the panel. A first solidified castable substance is cast in the interior portion of the frame, between the frame members. A three-dimensional structure such as a house is formed by connecting the panels together. The connections absorb and distribute seismic forces to the entire three-dimensional structure and the biased frame members act to absorb residual seismic forces reaching the individual panels. The castable substance and biased frame members permit the panel to withstand both positive and negative loading and render the panel fire resistant.

  • Patent number: 5862641
Abstract: An anchor for connecting refractory material to a wall or other support structure for a kiln or other vessel is disclosed. The anchor includes a first member having a section along its length that is selectively configured and has a selective cross-sectional shape. The anchor includes a second member having a complementary engaging section. The complementary engaging section has a cross-sectional shape and dimension complementary to the selected configuration of the length of the first section of the first member. The complementary engaging section of the second member further has a selective configuration along its length complementary to the shape and dimension of the selective cross-sectional shape of the first section of the first member such that the two members complementarily engage to enhance heat transfer, while at the same time permitting relative rocking and rotational movement of the members in use.

  • Patent number: 5862825
Abstract: A collapsible walker that includes a front frame, a pair of side frames, and a pair of levers. The front frame has a pair of skewed surfaces. The pair of side frames are hingedly attached to the front frame and are parallel thereto when the collapsible walker is in the closed position and are perpendicular thereto when the collapsible walker is in the open position. The pair of side frames have notches therein with skewed surfaces, with the pair of skewed surfaces of the front frame being vertically movable in the notches. The skewed surfaces of the pair of side frames move relative to the pair of skewed surfaces of the front frame as the collapsible walker is achieving the open position, until such time as it achieves the open position in which the pair of skewed surfaces of the front frame and drop down in the notches and mate with, and abut against, the skewed surfaces therein so as to prevent relative rotation therebetween and further rotation of the pair of side frames in both directions.
