  • Patent number: 4148422
Abstract: A holder for a smoking-pipe in the form of a substantially rigid or flexible sheath attachable to a support, the sheath having front and back walls defining a cavity and being sufficiently close to one another and sufficiently taut laterally and transversely that they frictionally pinch-hold a pipe stem in the cavity. An interior wall surface can have a high friction surface area, and the sheath can include tautening means to tauten the walls, to increase the frictional hold of the pipe stem.

  • Patent number: 4147286
Abstract: A collapsible hand carrier for carrying one or two side-by-side grocery bags or the like has a U-shaped, inverted handle member between the lower ends of which are pivotally secured inner end portions of a pair of opposed rectangular bottom panels the outer ends of which have pivotally secured thereto lower end portions of opposed side panels. The upper end corners of the side panels are linked to each other and to central portions along the length of the handle member at each side to provide substantially parallel guide mechanism operation of the side panels with respect to the plane of the handle, thereby to permit compact collapsing of the bottom and side panels against each side of the handle member.

  • Patent number: 4140255
Abstract: A bumper mounted spare wheel carrier for a vehicle is foldable downwardly to afford access to a trunk or door of the vehicle. The carrier includes a spring biased latch element which secures the carrier in vertical position. A resilient operating lever secured to the latch element is deformable under stress and when maintained in stressed condition provides a positive safety lock for the latch element independent of the spring biasing means. Novel wheel retaining means cooperating with the carrier selectively secure different sizes of wheels on the carrier.

  • Patent number: 4139133
Abstract: A detachable pocket or enclosure especially adapted for use with wearing apparel such as a belt and comprising three panel members which may be folded into juxtaposed position with respect to one another so as to enclose money or the like in a safeguarded manner. The enclosure, in a fully folded condition, mounts on the inner surface of a user's belt by means of replaceable adhesive tabs whereby the enclosure may be utilized with any number of different belts. The adhesive fastening tabs extend through aligned apertures in the panel portion of the enclosure adjacent the belt's surface so as to be reversibly affixed to an interior panel surface of the enclosure. In this manner, the enclosure is both maintained in a closed disposition as well as retained in place against the belt's surface. The reversible attachment of the adhesive fastening means to an inner panel of the enclosure is provided, for example, by the utilization of Velcro material.

  • Patent number: 4133464
Abstract: A back pack having a frame adapted for limited flexing responsive to relative hip and shoulder movement of a hiker. A generally inverted U-shaped main frame unit has side bars that rotate under torsional resistance in a fore and aft direction about a transverse support bar. A cross bar support assembly is coupled to the side bars by fittings that provide for relative rotational and pivotal movement between members of the cross bar assembly and the side bars, thereby permitting such frame flexing.

  • Patent number: 4125211
Abstract: This strap goes over the shoulders of the person wearing it and supports one or more cameras hanging down in front of the body of the wearer. Portions of the strap that extend downward behind the shoulders converge toward one another and are connected with a stretchable or elastic part of the strap which has its lower end anchored to a trouser band or belt, and which prevents the converging parts of the strap from moving upward into contact with the back of the neck of the person wearing the strap. Thus the weight of the cameras never bears against the neck. The stretchable part of the back portion of the strap yields when the wearer bends forward, and this prevents uncomfortable tightening of the strap.
