  • Patent number: 5457618
Abstract: The present invention relates to a structure designed to fix a bulb body in a rear combination lamp housing. A rectangular opening 3 is formed in the lamp housing and two catching grooves are formed on one side of the opening. A catching plate provided with a catching slot 7 at one end is formed in the rear of a bulb body and a tension clip with catching jaws formed perpendicular to the catching plate is integrated with the other end of the catching plate. With the catching slot 7 caught at one end of the opening and with the jaws elastically caught in the catching grooves, the bulb body is fixed in the housing. When the arms of the tension clip are compressed in a narrowed manner, the bulb body is separated from the housing.

  • Patent number: 5450293
Abstract: A fiber optic illumination system is supported upon the wrist and finger of a dentist, oral surgeon, or physician for lighting the oral cavity or other field of operation. A wrist-supported case houses a light bulb, battery, and switch for providing a source of light. A flexible fiber optic conductor conveys the light from the wrist-supported case to a finger supported lens for directing the beam of light in a direction controlled by movements of the finger. A quick release coupling allows the fiber optic conductor to be removed from the wrist supported case for sterilization of the components that come in contact with the patient. A remote light source can also be coupled to a light tunnel within the wrist-supported case for supplying light to the finger-supported lens.

  • Patent number: 5446639
Abstract: The improved illuminating comprises a spheroidal mirror, a light source, a spherical mirror and a condenser lens. The spheroidal mirror has such a shape that it is deficient of a portion that would otherwise reflect light that illuminates any portions other than the object to be illuminated, and that the light from the light source which is directed toward said missing portion is reflected by the spherical mirror positioned on the rear side of said missing portion as seen from the light source and makes another reflection by that part of the spheroidal mirror which faces away said missing portion, thereby illuminating the object. The light source is positioned at the first focal point of the spheroidal mirror in such a way that it faces the mirror, and the spherical mirror is positioned in such a way that its reflecting face lies at the second focal point of the spheroidal mirror.

  • Patent number: 5436805
Abstract: A thermally insulated distributed light network employs an array of discrete, thermally insulative light guides that are spaced slightly away from a central light source and provide optical coupling to optical fibers that have a lower thermal capability. The light guides can either be solid such as quartz, focusing lenses, or a combination of the two. The light receiving ends of the light guides are preferably held by a specially designed coupler so that the guides do not diverge from each other by more than the fibers' optical acceptance angle. The light guides are shaped so that their adjacent edges touch and form an enclosure around the light source, and the fibers are provided in bundles with matching geometries. The network includes an edge-lit display panel that is illuminated by a fiber that has either internal light scattering centers in the form of reflective particles or gas bubbles, or a series of edge notches, to redirect light into the panel.
