  • Patent number: 9266078
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for dispersing particulate materials prone to agglomeration, in a liquid. Particulate materials are exposed to a liquid and put into that liquid to form a suspension or a dispersion in a controlled method thereby minimizing agglomerates. The method uses mechanical/hydro mixing that prevents the physical deterioration of the particulate material and inhibits agglomeration of the particles. In many cases, these materials may be nanomaterials. Almost all particulate materials, can be handled in this manner. This method has been found to be especially useful for preparing solutions of exfoliated graphene and certain drugs.

  • Patent number: 9260800
Abstract: This disclosure is related to the manufacture of melt blown coreless tubular nonwovens. Such manufacture includes a melt blowing apparatus to deposit fibers onto a rotating mandrel for forming a tubular nonwoven; a puller device to withdraw the tubular nonwoven from the mandrel; and a cutting device to cut the tubular nonwoven into cartridges of a desired length. The puller device has a pair of drive axles mounted on a gap-setting device, such as a scissor jack or its equivalent. Each drive axle includes one or more driven multi-directional puller wheels, which is formed of or surrounded by non-driven rollers. When the rollers engage the rotating tubular nonwoven, the tubular nonwoven is pulled axially and steadily from the mandrel without affecting the rotational motion of the tubular nonwoven. As a result, the tubular nonwovens have consistent dimensions and quality without damage to the inner or outer surfaces of the tube.

  • Patent number: 9243348
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for melt-spinning, drawing and winding multiple synthetic threads and to an apparatus for performing the process. The synthetic threads are spun concurrently side by side through extrusion of fine filamentous strands, cooled down and hauled off to be then collectively drawn as a sheet of threads and wound up on bobbins. To obtain ideally identical physical properties in the collective treatment of the threads, the threads are hauled off independently of each other by separate individual godets after extrusion and before collective drawing. This makes it possible to realize for each thread the same conditions during extrusion, cooling and hauling off. The apparatus includes multiple individual godets arranged side by side, which are arranged upstream of the drawing facility and are each associated with one of the threads. To pull off the threads, the individual godets are configured to be individually driveable.
