  • Patent number: 10909784
Abstract: Features are disclosed for accurately authenticating a delivery agent for unattended delivery of an item. The systems and methods described confirm the location of the delivery agent and proximity to the delivery location using short range wireless communications between a monitoring device at the delivery location and a communication device associated with the delivery agent. Access may also be conditioned on user specified “do not disturb” rules indicating when remote access is authorized. The authentication may be dynamically assessed such as based on a type of item being delivered.

  • Patent number: 10902227
Abstract: In one aspect where a load or a subset of one or more tags is in motion relative to an RFID reader system, the RFID system obtains tag readings and derives tag scalar or vector motional data e.g. tag velocity, tag acceleration, and/or rate of change of tag acceleration which can be compared to known tag motional information to distinguish true tags of interest from false positives which are unavoidably also within the field of the reader system. An antenna system may also make readings during distinctive movement patterns of true tags, such as vertical or arcuate movement and utilize computed tag motional data based on the tag readings to distinguish true tags from false positives. Two components of the RFID system may communicate information on identified tags, and/or interact (e.g. by silencing tags), so as to cooperate in identifying true positive tags.

  • Patent number: 10896562
Abstract: A secured delivery system can include a doorbell device comprising a scanner, and a locking mechanism operatively connected to the scanner, a computer processor or a cloud server and a structure, such as a residence or lockbox. A key, which can be in the form of a bar code, can be generated and sent to delivery or service personnel needing access to the structure. The delivery or service personnel present the bar code to the scanner. Upon reading the bar code, the locking mechanism is unlocked thereby allowing access to the structure.

  • Patent number: 10894526
Abstract: A key unit that locks and unlocks a target by transmitting a signal to a locking and unlocking device, includes: a substrate on which a power supply circuit and a reception circuit that receives a request signal transmitted in a first frequency band from the locking and unlocking device via a reception antenna are mounted; and a housing configured to accommodate the substrate. Among parts associated with the power supply circuit, a part having the highest height from a substrate surface is mounted on a first surface of the substrate. The reception antenna is mounted on a second surface. When the substrate is accommodated in the housing, a distance from a substrate surface of the second surface to an inner surface of the housing is shorter than a distance from the substrate surface of the first surface to the inner surface of the housing.

  • Patent number: 10891454
Abstract: An information reading apparatus includes an information reading section, a communication section, a memory, a first determination section, a second determination section, and a control unit. In the apparatus, every time data is determined to be unread data (i.e., data read by one information reading apparatus but not shared yet by all of a plurality of information reading apparatuses) by the first determination section, the control unit records the unread data in the memory, while transmitting the unread data to other information reading apparatuses through the communication section. The control unit also records data determined to be unread data by the second determination section in the memory. A plurality of such information reading apparatuses are employed in an information reading system in which each information reading apparatus can easily keep track of the entire progress of reading tasks.

  • Patent number: 10878069
Abstract: In an embodiment of the invention, an unlocked mobile device is configured to capture images, analyze the images to detect a user's face, and automatically lock the device in response to determining that a user's face does not appear in the images. The camera capturing and face recognition processing may be triggered by the device having detected that it has been motionless for a threshold period of time. In another embodiment, a locked mobile device is configured to capture an initial image using its camera, capture a new image in response to detecting movement of the device, determine that the device moved to a use position, capture a subsequent image in response to determining that the device moved to a use position, analyze the subsequent image to detect a user's face, and unlock the device in response to detecting the user's face. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 10861266
Abstract: Physical access to secure areas is automatically performed based on presence or detection of a wireless device. A unique identifier of a wireless cellular device, for example, may be pre-authorized for occupants, employees, and tenants of a building. Contractors and vendors may also have their wireless cellular devices pre-approved for access. When the wireless cellular device is detected by a network serving the secure area, its unique identifier may be compared to databases or lists of approved cellular devices. Physical access may thus be automatically granted, based on possession of a recognized cellular device.

  • Patent number: 10796111
Abstract: A method begins by a radio frequency identification (RFID) reader transmitting a first and second radio frequency (RF) signal of a plurality of RF signals, which each include a unique carrier frequency and an instruction to an RFID tag to respond with a received power level indication. The method continues by the RFID reader receiving, in response to the first and second signals sent at a first and second carrier frequency, a first and second response from the RFID tag that includes a first and second received power level indication. The method continues by the RFID reader determining an estimated resonant frequency of the RFID tag based on the first and second received power level indications and the first and second carrier frequencies. The method continues by the RFID reader determining an environmental condition based on the estimated resonant frequency.
