  • Patent number: 5643003
Abstract: A connector assembly (10) includes a plug housing (20) with a housing latch (30) formed thereon that includes grooves (32) for slidably receiving a connector position assurance device (CPA) (40). The CPA (40) is inserted from a mating side face (25) of the housing (20) and is operable to assure that a further matable connector is fully mated to the housing (20). The CPA (40) includes a deflectable beam (41) and an embossment (44). The beam (41) will deflect below projections (34) of latch (30) as the CPA (40) is moved into its final position. When the CPA (40) is in its final position, the operator can readily observe that the housing (20) has been fully mated to the further matable connector.

  • Patent number: 5643014
Abstract: A mounting arrangement between connector modules of a double-sided modular connecting block and polarity sensitive current and voltage limiting circuit protection devices. Connector modules having multiple pairs of insulation displacement connecting (IDC) terminals are insertable into a mounting bracket to form the double-sided connecting block. Exclusionary posts are selectively molded into a front and rear side of the connector modules and correspond to each pair of terminals. The posts on the front of a connector module align and mate with a cavity included on a front-mounted current and voltage limiting protection device. Similarly posts molded in a different location on the rear side of the connector module align and mate with a cavity included in a rear-mounted protection module. The corresponding posts and cavities create an exclusionary key and slot interface which prevents circuit protection devices of improper polarity from being inserted within the wrong side of a connector module.

  • Patent number: 5632643
Abstract: An improved yoke socket for use with separate leads and plugs such as those used with electrocardiogram devices provides detents to guard against accidental disconnection of plugs from the socket. A first surface of the yoke socket bears a row of apertures into which can be inserted connectors born by the individual lead plugs. A groove penetrates a second surface of the yoke socket to expose the inserted connectors. Each connector has a notch that acts in concert with a retaining rod placed within the groove to retain the plug against accidental detaching. The retaining rod comprises a series of expanded or bead-like portions connected by thinner rod portions. The expanded portion is sized to protrude into each aperture from the groove to serve as a detent by interacting with the notch of an inserted connector. The entire retaining rod is backed by a layer of compressed elastomer such as rubber which acts to bias the retaining rod into contact with the connector.

  • Patent number: 5567182
Abstract: Disclosed is an ultra multiple connector for use in connecting of a wire harness, etc., having a frame for mounting a plurality of connectors and adapted to connect the frame to a mating connector, the ultra multiple connector being capable of securing mounting of connector housing onto the frame and mounting of rear holder onto the housing. A plurality of hollows each opened upwardly and downwardly are formed on the frame, and one or more connector housing connected to a wire harness is loaded into each of the hollows. The depth of the hollow of the frame is shorter than the length of the connector housing so that a portion of the connector housing in its mounted state is exposed from the frame, and an engaging aperture is formed on a side surface of the portion of the connector housing to be exposed. A rear holder is removably mounted on an end surface of the housing and an engaging click for engaging the engaging aperture of the connector housing is formed on the rear holder.
