Abstract: A method and system for providing a secure method and process for accessing resources that are made available by a server. A demilitarized zone (DMZ) framework provides a frontend system that is protected by a firewall and separated from a backend system by a second firewall. The frontend system provides the user interface functionality common to the backend but contains no access directly to the resources that the user interface operates upon. Placing the user interface on a separate machine from the resource data provides an additional layer of security. In addition, separate communication protocols are used between the user and the frontend and between the frontend and the backend system. Thus, a malicious programmer or program will not know the location of the resource or the method for communicating with the backend server to access the resource.

Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method for visually representing the probability of spam messages on a mobile communication device. In an embodiment, the method comprises: obtaining a probability that a message is spam; and for each of one or more messages in a message list, visually representing the probability that a message is spam such that any differences in the probabilities as between messages are discernable from the visual representation. In another embodiment, the method further comprises: determining the percentage of the message downloaded to the mobile communication device; and displaying for each of one or more messages appearing in the message list an object or icon visually representing at least one of the probability that the message is spam, or the percentage of the message downloaded to the mobile communication device.

Abstract: Described herein are methods, systems, and computer program products for seamless interoperability between multiple computing nodes. A server computing device receives, from a first computing node in a plurality of computing nodes, a message for transmission to one or more other computing nodes, the message generated by the first computing node based upon application-specific instructions from a first application on the first computing node, where the plurality of computing nodes is defined as a virtual network at the server computing device and each computing node includes an ensemble module for communicating with the server. The server determines one or more other computing nodes in the virtual network to receive the message. The server transmits the message to the determined one or more other computing nodes, where each of the destination computing nodes formats the message into application-specific instructions for a second application on the determined node.

Abstract: In an application execution system having a plurality of application servers and an application master in an application execution system, the application master stores a plurality of applications, including a respective application, in a library for distribution among the application servers, adds a first instance of the respective application from the library to a respective application server for execution, and obtains usage information of one or more applications added to the application servers. In accordance with the usage information, the application master performs one of a predefined set of actions that includes: adding a second instance of the respective application to the plurality of application servers; and removing the first instance of the respective application from the respective application server.

Abstract: A management system can recommend and manage publishing content with publishers of business information. A representative can provide unique identifying information for a business that can be used to determine a category of similar businesses. Based on the identified category, a list of publishers can be identified to the representative as related to the business category. The representative can select one or more of the publishers to publish content about the business. Based on the representative selection, the system can request a set of content from the representative. After receiving the content from the representative, the system can translate the content to formats acceptable to each of the publishers. The content can then be provided to the publishers to publish. The published content can then be monitored for problems, and corrected if problems are discovered.

Abstract: A method includes receiving at a directory server a notification from a client system, where the notification indicates that the first client received a corrupt packet of a playfile from a first peer. The method also includes determining if the first peer is a poor quality peer, updating a first peer score for the first peer if the first peer is not a poor quality peer, identifying a second peer that is not on a blacklist, and providing a peer identification associated with the second peer to the client system.

Abstract: An apparatus and a system are provided to proxy one or more media signals between at least one local client device and at least one remote client device. For instance, the apparatus can include a first network interface, a media dispatcher, and a second network interface. The first network interface can be configured to receive a single media signal of the one or more media signals from a local client device via a first communication network with an asymmetric communication protocol (e.g., Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification and Digital Subscriber Line). The media dispatcher can be configured to duplicate the single media signal into a plurality of duplicate media signals. Further, the second network interface can be configured to transmit the plurality of duplicate media signals to a plurality of remote client devices over a second communication network.

Abstract: A system and method for aggregating and consolidating game notifications is described. In one aspect, game related notifications of different types, from different game sessions, from different games, and from different gaming platforms are aggregated and further consolidated, according to a set of consolidation rules, into a single consolidated environment. The consolidated environment may be projected to and managed from a variety of different gaming devices including mobile devices, gaming and media consoles, and personal computers.

Abstract: Service requests may be routed to services in a service framework provided by a plurality of hosts. A first candidate host may receive a service request. The service latency of the first candidate host may be determined. The service latency for one or more candidate host zones may also be determined. The first candidate host may service the service request or route the service request to one or more candidate host zones. In some embodiments, a probabilistic distribution based at least in part on the service latency of the first candidate host and the service latency for each of the one or more candidate host zones is used to determine whether the first candidate host services the service request or routes the service request to the one or more candidate host zones.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for wireless data transmission in a multimedia network are disclosed. Disclosed is a network having a source coupled to a sink using a virtual channel that includes a wireless communication channel. A source end of the system provides a packetizing data stream having a stream of payloads such that each payload is associated with its respective originating source stream. The system configured to encode the packetized data stream for wireless transport. A non-wireless source end of the system receives quality of service information from downstream. Thereby enabling adjustments to the source content and packetized data streams.

Abstract: A communication system includes a communication device and a communication network configured to communicate with the communication device. The communication network includes a storage unit configured to store first communication information related to a communication to the communication device that is generated when communications with the communication device are unattainable; and a notifying unit configured to send the first communication information stored in the storage unit to the communication device when communications with the communication device become attainable. The communication device is configured to receive the first communication information sent from the notifying unit, and includes a restraining unit configured to restrain function of a local device based on the first communication information.

Abstract: Systems and methods can facilitate gathering information generated by network traffic to playlists. Based on analytics and metrics derived from the gathered information and reported, feedback about playlist access patterns can be supplied to interested parties, such as playlist creators/curators. The feedback can enable playlist curators to better tailor playlist content and sequence, potentially reducing a perceived need to skip around inside a playlist and making for a more enjoyable experience for playlist users.

Abstract: An application program relating to a process of an integrated circuit is stored in a virtual integrated circuit storage area server apparatus. Following a mutual authentication between the IC and the virtual storage area server apparatus through a portable communication function unit, the server apparatus executes the application program. Additionally, through the IC, the portable communication function unit, a wireless communication line, and a network, communicate with an IC_R/W apparatus and perform a process relating to a service in collaboration with each other.

Abstract: Side loading of content elements is provided. A selection of a content element from a terminal device may be received and a content format associated with the terminal device may be identified. If the content element is not available in the identified content format, the content element may be transcoded from a current content format to the identified content format and the content element may be transferred to the terminal device in the identified content format.

Abstract: A method or system for transferring information during the domain name service (DNS) lookup to more effectively utilizing the content delivery network (CDN) is disclosed. Information gathered from DNS request is used to identify information on how to serve the content with a chosen IP address returned from the DNS lookup. The DNS server selects from a number of possible IP addresses after analyzing information from the DNS request and popularity of associated content. The different IP addresses will result in different edge servers providing content. An IP address could be provided for popular content in a way that will tend to populate more content caches from the pool of edge servers in one embodiment.

Abstract: A network visualization system is provided. The network visualization system may include a monitoring server that discovers devices in a client network, and a client application including a discovery controller and a rendering unit. The discovery controller may receive a list of discovered devices that were discovered by the monitoring server, and the rendering unit may render the discovered devices using DirectX.

Abstract: An apparatus, method and system to enable dynamic replication of Web servers across a wide area in response to access patterns by Web clients as well as in response to customer requests. The method for dynamically replicating one or more parent nodes on a network in response to a user request by a policy manager. The policy manager transmits the user request to an event module. The event module transmits the user request to a data consistency module, wherein the data consistency module maintains integrity of the data on the parent node. The event system communicates with a resource management module to ensure proper utilization of network resources, and transmits the routing request to a request routing module for appropriately balancing the network load. The request routing module is capable of providing optimal routing based on the network resources.

Abstract: In a method for updating the data of a data storage device of a navigation system, updated data are transmitted by local data transmission stations and stored in the data storage device. To improve the usage opportunities of the navigation system, the updated data are transferred to a service provider.

Abstract: A network comprising a network component configured with a common internet protocol (IP) address, wherein a similar network component in a similar network is configured with the common IP address, and wherein the network is in communication with the similar network. The disclosure includes a network component comprising a processor configured to implement a method comprising communicating with a mobile station (MS) using an IP address that is common for similar elements in similar networks, and receiving a dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) context associated with the MS. Also disclosed is a first access network in communication with a second access network, the first access network comprising a first DHCP proxy configured with a substantially identical IP address as a second DHCP proxy in the second access network, and an agent configured to promote transfer of a DHCP context to the second access network.
