  • Patent number: 9594663
Abstract: A server apparatus is provided for collecting log information from a plurality of servers that execute a series of processes in response to a first request from a client apparatus. The server apparatus receives, from a first server that is included in the plurality of servers and has executed a first process of the series of processes, a second request for executing a second process of the series of processes, where the first request includes first log information that is outputted from the first server when the first process is executed by the first server. The server apparatus executes the second process while outputting second log information indicating an execution history of the second process, and controls writing of the first and second log information into a predetermined storage area provided in association with the client apparatus.

  • Patent number: 9590877
Abstract: Services in an operating environment are represented by stored service definitions that identify entities that perform the service. Entity definitions identify machine data pertaining to the entity. A key performance indicator (KPI) of the service characterizes the service on the whole or some aspect of it. Each KPI is defined by a search query that derives a value from machine data identified in the entity definitions. Processing devices cause display of a service-monitoring page having a services summary region and a services aspects region. The summary region displays interactive summary tiles that each correspond to a service and present information about an aggregate KPI that characterizes the service. The aspects region displays interactive aspect tiles that each correspond to a KPI characterizing some aspect of an associated service. Additional information may be included in the service-monitoring page and interaction features enable a user to navigate to enhanced information displays.

  • Patent number: 9531614
Abstract: A system monitors applications and network flows used during the business transaction to determine distributed business transaction anomalies caused at least in part by network performance issues. A network flow associated with a business transaction is monitored by a network agent. The network agent may capture packets, analyze the packets and other network data to determine one or more baselines, and dynamically compare subsequent network flow performance to those baselines to determine an anomaly. When an anomaly in a network flow is detected, this information may be provided to a user along with other data regarding a business transaction that is utilizing the network flow. Concurrently with the network agent monitoring, application agents may monitor one or more applications performing the business transaction. The present system reports performance data for a business transaction in terms of application performance and network performance, all in the context of a distributed business transaction.

  • Patent number: 9530140
Abstract: Given an advertisement placed by a rogue affiliate that takes steps to hide its affiliate ID from affiliate investigators, the affiliate ID may be identified using a step-wise link follower to process the advertisement's target URIs. For each redirection step inclusively between the original target URI and the ultimate destination URI, the current URI is analyzed and requested according to either a trusted request method or a non-trusted request method depending on whether the resource to which the URI refers is known to be a trusted resource. The non-trusted request method is designed to thwart the rogue affiliate's efforts to identify an affiliate investigator as the source of the request.

  • Patent number: 9525737
Abstract: A method for data storage includes, in a system that includes multiple servers and multiple multi-queue storage devices that communicate over a network, accumulating data blocks by a server in a Non-Volatile Random-Access Memory (NVRAM) cache that is accessible to the servers and to the storage devices, by sending the data blocks from the server to the NVRAM cache using remote direct memory access, so as to form one or more stripes. The stripes are transferred from the NVRAM cache to respective server-specific queues on the storage devices. Another server is prevented from causing inconsistency in the data blocks, by querying a data structure, which is shared and modified by the servers using remote direct memory access, and which specifies storage locations of the data blocks.

  • Patent number: 9521047
Abstract: Raw machine data are captured and may be organized as events. Entity definitions representing machine entities that perform a service identify the machine data pertaining to respective entities. KPI search queries each define a KPI. Each KPI search query derives one or more values for the KPI from machine data identified in the entity definitions. The derivation may be performed on a per-entity basis and on the aggregate. The derived values may then be translated into a state value domain using per-entity thresholds, aggregate thresholds, or a combination.

  • Patent number: 9515980
Abstract: A method or system for transferring information during the domain name service (DNS) lookup to more effectively utilizing the content delivery network (CDN) is disclosed. Information gathered from DNS request is used to identify information on how to serve the content with a chosen IP address returned from the DNS lookup. The DNS server selects from a number of possible IP addresses after analyzing information from the DNS request and popularity of associated content. The different IP addresses will result in different edge servers providing content. An IP address could be provided for popular content in a way that will tend to populate more content caches from the pool of edge servers in one embodiment.
