  • Patent number: 11334040
Abstract: Methods and systems for generating a response to detecting a fire on a property are provided. In certain aspects, a smart home controller (or other smart controller) may analyze data received from smart devices disposed on, within, or proximate to a property. If it is determined that a fire is present on the premises of the property, the smart home controller may determine a location of the fire as compared to the smart devices. The smart home controller may then generate and transmit instructions causing a portion of the smart devices to perform a set of actions to mitigate risks associated with the presence of the fire on the property. The smart home controller may also compare the location of the fire with a location of an occupant, and generate an escape route for the occupant. Insurance policies, premiums, or discounts may be adjusted based upon the fire response/mitigation functionality.

  • Patent number: 11328587
Abstract: A system for confirming the identity of a vehicle. The device includes: a vehicle control unit in the vehicle to be identified; a vehicle identification device; an external service device designed to interact with the vehicle; a vehicle sensor in the vehicle; and an external sensor. The vehicle identification device establishes a data connection with the vehicle control unit and triggers a physical interaction between the vehicle control unit and the external service device. The vehicle sensor detects the physical interaction and transmits a corresponding vehicle detection value to the vehicle identification device. The external sensor detects the physical interaction and transmits a corresponding external detection value to the vehicle identification device; and the vehicle identification device compares the vehicle detection value and the external detection value with one another and confirms the identity of the vehicle if the two detection values coincide with one another within a predefined tolerance.

  • Patent number: 11318949
Abstract: Disclosed techniques include in-vehicle drowsiness analysis using blink-rate. Video of an individual is obtained within a vehicle using an image capture device. The video is analyzed using one or more processors to detect a blink event based on a classifier for a blink that was determined. Using temporal analysis, the blink event is determined by identifying that eyes of the individual are closed for a frame in the video. Using the blink event and one or more other blink events, blink-rate information is determined using the one or more processors. Based on the blink-rate information, a drowsiness metric is calculated using the one or more processors. The vehicle is manipulated based on the drowsiness metric. A blink duration of the individual for the blink event is evaluated. The blink-rate information is compensated. The compensating is based on demographic information for the individual.

  • Patent number: 11292342
Abstract: The disclosure generally pertains to systems and methods for detecting an occupancy of a back seat in a vehicle before a driver exits the vehicle. In one example method, a backseat occupancy alert system detects an activity that precedes the driver exiting the vehicle. For example, the system may detect that the driver has performed, or is performing, actions such as turning off the engine of the vehicle, placing the vehicle in a parked condition, and/or opening a door of the vehicle. The detection may be carried out, for example, by evaluating an image captured by one or more cameras in the vehicle. The system may then detect a failure by the driver to look towards a back seat of the vehicle, where, for example, a child may be seated in a car seat. The system may then produce an alert to prompt the driver to check the back seat.
