  • Patent number: 9930460
Abstract: A tinnitus method and device for providing relief to a person suffering from the disturbing effects of tinnitus is described. The method can be implemented entirely in software to spectrally modify an audio signal in accordance with a predetermined masking algorithm which modifies the intensity of the audio signal at selected frequencies. A predetermined masking algorithm is described which provides intermittent masking of the tinnitus wherein, at a comfortable listening level, during peaks of the audio signal the tinnitus is completely obscured, whereas during troughs the perception of the tinnitus occasionally emerges. In practice it has been found that such intermittent masking provides an immediate sense of relief, control and relaxation for the person, while enabling sufficient perception of the tinnitus for habituation and long term treatment to occur. Advantageously the predetermined masking algorithm is specifically tailored to the audiometric configuration of the person.

  • Patent number: 9926767
Abstract: A stress reactive valve includes a valve body disposed in a subsea safety system or other elongated components of hydrocarbon production systems. The valve body includes a frangible or breakable material such that when the subsea safety system or other elongated system undergoes a stress, such as a bending stress, the frangible valve body can react to the stress by breaking and thereby establishing fluid communication or a fluid path across the valve body. In a first or unbroken condition of the valve body, the valve body prevents fluid communication between a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet. In a second or broken condition of the valve body, fluid communication is allowed between the fluid inlet and outlet. The fluid communication can be used to actuate a device, or the fluid pressure can be used as pilot pressure to actuate a pilot operated valve system.

  • Patent number: 9928894
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for preventing disturb of untargeted memory cells during repeated access operations of target memory cells are described for a non-volatile memory array. Multiple memory cells may be in electronic communication with a common conductive line, and each memory cell may have an electrically non-linear selection component. Following an access operation (e.g., a read or write operation) of a target memory cell, untargeted memory cells may be discharged by applying a discharge voltage to the common conductive line. The discharge voltage may, for example, have a polarity opposite to the access voltage. In other examples, a delay may be instituted between access attempts in order to discharge the untargeted memory cells.

  • Patent number: 9927870
Abstract: A virtual reality system that uses gestures to obtain commands from a user. Embodiments may use sensors mounted on a virtual reality headset to detect head movements, and may recognize selected head motions as gestures associated with commands. Commands associated with gestures may modify the user's virtual reality experience, for example by selecting or modifying a virtual world or by altering the user's viewpoint within the virtual world. Embodiments may define specific gestures to place the system into command mode or user input mode, for example to temporarily disable normal head tracking within the virtual environment. Embodiments may also recognize gestures of other body parts, such as wrist movements measured by a smart watch.

  • Patent number: 9927232
Abstract: In order to support an inspecting person in a method for the manual non-destructive inspection of a test object, a detection device is provided for detecting three-dimensional surface coordinates of a region to be inspected on the test object and for continuously determining positions and speeds of an inspecting tool relative to the test object Discrete position values and speed values of the inspecting tool for the respective measurement time points are stored by a storage device. A computing device determines the share of an already inspected region in relation to the total region of the test object to be inspected. The method and device can be used for manual inspection of test objects having a plurality of different shapes. The inspecting person is effectively relieved and the process for the non-destructive inspection is documented in order to guarantee a complete inspection.
