  • Publication number: 20050133508
Abstract: A tamper-evident plastic lid is welded to a plastic container at a welded portion and a detachable, replaceable lid portion is formed by tearing a frangible portion on the lid's skirt thereby leaving a torn tamper-evident, welded lid portion fixed to the container rim. The illustrated lid is a plug-fit lid which has a plug-shaped portion comprising a depressed central panel and an encircling, upstanding wall that engages an inner side of the container rim wall to retain the separated lid portion when it is replaced on the container. An energy director preferably in the form of an encircling bead on the lid initiates the softening of the plastic of the bead for welding with the plastic of the container rim. The preferred frangible portion is a reduced cross-sectional thickness web in a horizontally and radially extending skirt wall on the lid skirt overlying a horizontally and radially extending rim wall on the container rim. The frangible portion may be located radially inwardly of the welded portion.

  • Publication number: 20050062476
Abstract: A metal detector adapted to generate a transmit search signal and to receive a receive search signal, and to analyse such received search signal, wherein the detector is adapted to allow a selection of operating parameters for each of these functions, said selection being effected by the storage as data in a memory of such selection, characterised in that the detector is adapted to allow such stored data to be modified in accordance with data I an external store, further characterised in that there is a digital data communication transmission program, adapted to effect a transmission of some or all of the stored data through a data transmission means to enable a further metal detector to receive and store for use in such further detector the said data.

  • Publication number: 20040006937
Abstract: A flood protection barrier is disclosed that can be deployed in the event of an immanent flood risk. The barrier comprises a shield having a sealing element and securing means for securing the shield in place to at least partially close an aperture in a wall of a building. The sealing element forms a fluid-resistant seal between barrier and the periphery of the aperture thereby resisting passage of water through the aperture. The barrier can be secured by securing means that require no modification to the building. The securing means may include clip assemblies or, in alternative embodiments, wedges or other suitable components.

  • Publication number: 20040006816
Abstract: Apparatus for sealing an aperture against ingress of floodwater is disclosed. The apparatus comprising a cover portion for covering and forming a seal around an aperture, and location means for engaging with a component associated with the aperture to retain the cover portion in place. For example, the locating means may include a securing element that engages with the fixed component, and screw threaded components to draw the cover portion into place. Embodiments of the invention may be applied to seal an aperture such as an airbrick, a wastewater outlet, an overflow, etc. Further apparatus comprises a sealing portion and a securing portion whereby the apparatus can be disposed for use in a toilet bowl such that the sealing portion is retained in position by the securing portion to substantially seal an outlet of the toilet bowl. Once the risk of flooding has passed, the apparatus can be removed.

  • Patent number: 4114728
Abstract: A lift superstructure of the type comprising a bolster plate mounted on the top of a lift piston and having two horizontally pivotable swinging arms extending from each side for supporting a vehicle upon them, wherein each pair of swing arms extending from a given side of the bolster is mounted and pivoted upon the top half of the bolster opposite from the edge from which the pair of swing arms extends, so that the pivoted ends of the two pairs of swing arms overlap each other partially. Preferably the two swing arms extending from one edge are located between the swing arms extending from the opposite edge, with respect to a dimension extending generally at right angles to the swing arms. A safety bridge in the form of a generally U-shaped bracket preferably extends over each adjacent pair of swing arms and is fastened to the top surface of the bolster, to provide safety restraint of the swing arms should a pivot bolt break.
