  • Publication number: 20110224823
Abstract: A pass-through mechanism that couples a first linear tape library string to a second linear tape library string is maintained. A first robotic assembly associated with the first linear tape library string places a tape from the first linear tape library string into the pass-through mechanism. The pass-through mechanism moves the tape to a position where the tape can be removed by a second robotic assembly associated with the second linear tape library string. The second robotic assembly removes the tape from the pass-through mechanism and places the tape into the second linear tape library string.

  • Publication number: 20110222672
Abstract: A system and method for creating and distributing messages including dynamic content is provided. In one form, an entity provides a plurality of content segments for use in building a dynamic message. The entity also provides a listing of end users to receive a message and information associated with the user, such as demographic or prior purchasing information. In an alternate form, the service connects to the user in a communication session and collects information from the user directly. The service then uses this information, whether provided by the entity or the end user, as the basis for selection of various content segments which will make up a dynamic message for presentation to the user.

  • Publication number: 20110225463
Abstract: A service is used to process files. The processing of the files is performed by worker services that are assigned to process a portion of the files. Each worker service that is processing a portion of the files is assigned a unique identifier. Using the identifier information, the set of worker services currently active are monitored along with the work assigned to each process. When a worker server determines that a worker service has failed, the work assigned to the failed worker service can be automatically determined and a new worker service can be started to process that work. Any new worker service that is started is assigned a unique identifier, so the work assigned to it can be similarly tracked.

  • Publication number: 20110222688
Abstract: The present invention provides a secure voice solution for the BlackBerry 9000 (BlackBerry Bold™) Rather than make encrypted voice calls through traditional GSM cellular phone calls, the present invention instead receives voice data from the user using the device microphone and built-in media player software in the device. This data is then encrypted and then sent as an IP packet. The device then receives, as IP packets, encrypted voice communication from the other party in the encrypted call, which in turn are decrypted in the device and then played back on a second media player running on the device. The present invention takes advantage of the device's ability to run two media players simultaneously to in effect, simulate a cellular telephone call.

  • Publication number: 20110225318
Abstract: A network comprising a plurality of network devices is configured to implement scheduling for energy efficiency. In one aspect, a set of network devices interconnected in a line within a network is identified, and a common frame size is established. For each of the network devices of the line, active and inactive periods for that network device are scheduled in a corresponding frame having the common frame size, with the frames in the respective network devices of the line being time shifted relative to one another by designated offsets. For each of one or more of the active periods of each of the network devices of the line, received packets are scheduled for processing in that network device.

  • Publication number: 20110225239
Abstract: An assignment system and method for generating content creation requests or “assignments” that are to be fulfilled by content contributors. The assignment system is part of a content distribution system that aggregates, manages, and distributes/syndicates multimedia content that is generated by content contributors. As part of the acquisition of content, the assignment system may compensate the content contributors for the content that they provide to the system. The assignment system generates assignments that are likely to result in content that will be of interest to content consumers, such as visitors and/or subscribers to websites provided by, associated with, or using the content of the content distributor. In some embodiments, the assignment system may generate assignments based on the popularity of pre-existing content, searches for content, or requests for content.
