  • Publication number: 20240188861
Abstract: A laparoscopic medical device includes an oximeter sensor at its tip, which allows the making of oxygen saturation measurements laparoscopically. The device can be a unitary design, wherein a laparoscopic element includes electronics for the oximeter sensor at a distal end (e.g., opposite the tip). The device can be a multiple piece design (e.g., two-piece design), where some electronics is in a separate housing from the laparoscopic element, and the pieces (or portions) are removably connected together. The laparoscopic element can be removed and disposed of; so, the electronics can be reused multiple times with replacement laparoscopic elements. The electronics can include a processing unit for control, computation, or display, or any combination of these. However, in an implementation, the electronics can connect wirelessly to other electronics (e.g., another processing unit) for further control, computation, or display, or any combination of these.

  • Patent number: 12006388
Abstract: A composite material is provided. In some aspects, the composite material may include a combination of a thermoplastic resin mixed with a polypropylene-graft-maleic anhydride (PPgMA). Carbon particles may be mixed in the combination. In this way, the composite material may include between 80 wt. % and 90 wt. % of the thermoplastic resin, between 0.5 wt. % and 15 wt. % of PPgMA, and between 0.1 wt. % to 7 wt. % of carbon particles. Carbon particles may have exposed carbon surfaces with carbon atoms bonded to molecular sites on adjacent PPgMA molecules. At least some carbon atoms may be oxidized with one or more of oxygen-containing groups. Oxidation of carbon atoms may be associated with an increase in at least some PPgMA molecules chemically bonding with adjacent carbon atoms per unit volume. In this way, interaction between carbon atoms and PPgMA molecules may maintain composite material density within +/?3% of thermoplastic resin density.

  • Patent number: 12007228
Abstract: Perception sensors of a vehicle can be used for various operating functions of the vehicle. A computing device may receive sensor data from the perception sensors, and may calibrate the perception sensors using the sensor data, to enable effective operation of the vehicle. To calibrate the sensors, the computing device may project the sensor data into a voxel space, and determine a voxel score comprising an occupancy score and a residual value for each voxel. The computing device may then adjust an estimated position and/or orientation of the sensors, and associated sensor data, from at least one perception sensor to minimize the voxel score. The computing device may calibrate the sensor using the adjustments corresponding to the minimized voxel score. Additionally, the computing device may be configured to calculate an error in a position associated with the vehicle by calibrating data corresponding to a same point captured at different times.

  • Patent number: 11990216
Abstract: A mechanism is provided for implement a discrepancy detection mechanism for detecting discrepancies between clinical notes and administrative records. Clinical concepts are extracted from the clinical notes and the administrative records in a patient's electronic medical records (EMRs). The extracted clinical concepts are filtered based on semantic type information to identify concepts that reference diseases or syndromes while also removing negated instances. Utilizing the positive mentions of diseases in clinical notes, the positive mentions of diseases or syndromes in the clinical notes are compared against each positive entry in the administrative records. A discrepancy summary is then generated for diseases or syndromes that failed to translate correctly from clinical notes to the administrative records in the patient's EMRs.
