  • Publication number: 20150106352
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are presented for aggregating data from disparate sources into an efficiently accessible format. For example, an aggregation tool may receive attribute-based data from one source and metrics-based data from another source. Given this data, the aggregation tool may store attribute data from the attribute-based data into a data object, where the data object includes multiple time slots corresponding to defined time ranges. The aggregation tool may then determine from the metrics-based data, respective metrics data for each of the multiple time slots of the data object, where each time slot is associated with the attribute data. The aggregation tool may store the respective metrics data into each of the multiple time slots of the data object. In this way, the data object may serve to efficiently provide an answer to a query requiring data from multiple data sources.

  • Publication number: 20150103168
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for determining a trajectory of a axisymmetric object in 3-D physical space using a digital camera which records 2-D image data are described. In particular, based upon i) a characteristic length of the axisymmetric object, ii) a physical position of the camera determined from sensors associated with the camera (e.g., accelerometers) and iii) captured 2-D digital images from the camera including a time at which each image is generated relative to one another, a position, a velocity vector and an acceleration vector can be determined in three dimensional physical space for axisymmetric object objects as a function of time. In one embodiment, the method and apparatus can be applied to determine the trajectories of objects in games which utilize axisymmetric object objects, such as basketball, baseball, bowling, golf, soccer, rugby or football.

  • Publication number: 20150103131
Abstract: Described are systems and methods that allow a video conference participant to efficiently review semantically meaningful events within the video streams shared by their peers. Because participants are engaged in real-time communication, it is important to provide tools that let them quickly jump back to past events that were shown previously, not requiring them to manipulate a standard video timeline. Our techniques thus find meaningful events in the video stream such as scrolling pages, moving windows, typing text, etc. Using these techniques, a participant can then easily go back to e.g. the last PDF page shown by a peer, while still listening to the live audio.

  • Publication number: 20150102414
Abstract: Approaches for forming an oxide cap to protect a semiconductor device (e.g., a fin field effect transistor device (FinFET)) are provided. Specifically, approaches are provided for forming an oxide cap over a subset (e.g., SiP regions) of raised source drain (RSD) structures on the set of fins of the FinFET device to mitigate damage during subsequent processing. The oxide spacer is deposited before the removal of a nitride capping layer from the FinFET device (e.g., by a hot phosphorus wash). The oxide cap on top of the RSD structures will be preserved throughout the removal of the nitride capping layer to provide hardmask protection during this process.

  • Patent number: 9007633
Abstract: Capturing a sequence of images of a multi-page printed document is performed by a handheld device, such as a Smartphone. The device has one or more processors, memory, and a digital image sensor. The device monitors preview images of a first printed page of the multi-page printed document, where the preview images are generated by the digital image sensor. Without user indication of when to capture an image, the device captures a still image of the first printed page when a first quality metric of the preview images exceeds a first quality threshold. The device repeats the monitoring and capturing of additional pages until receiving indication from the user that capturing images is complete. In response to receiving indication from the user that capturing images is complete, the device concatenates the captured still images into a single digital document and stores the single digital document.

  • Patent number: 9004292
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure could generally provide a relatively easily squeezable beverage bottle that allows control of the flow rate of the liquid being dispensed to the user. The bottle could provide sufficient radial rigidity—or resistance to squeezing—to return to its original shape (or “bounce back”) at a suitable rate without experiencing permanent deformation or denting and to withstand the rigors of filling, shipping, transporting, dispensing, etc. The present disclosure generally provides a beverage bottle filtering system that provides adequate filtering of water taken from the bottle at a suitable rate. In one embodiment, the present disclosure could include a support system to adequately secure the filter media within a filter housing while ensuring a sufficient compression fit and seal of filter media within filter system to eliminate “bypass flow” (i.e., water that might leak past filter system) and prevent consumption of unfiltered water.

  • Patent number: 9008787
Abstract: A method and system for charge imbalance compensation in a stimulating medical device is provided. The stimulating medical device includes at least one electrode contact configured for providing stimulation to a recipient. A charge imbalance compensation system in the stimulating medical device measures any residual charge remaining on the electrode contact that may result from an imbalance in the applied stimulation. If the measured residual charge exceeds a threshold, the charge imbalance compensation system causes a compensator current to be applied to reduce the residual charge. This residual charge may be measured by measuring a potential difference between the electrode contact and a reference electrode; or, by measuring a potential difference across a capacitor in-series with the electrode contact.

  • Publication number: 20150098826
Abstract: A damper bearing assembly for a gas turbine engine is disclosed. The damper bearing assembly is designed to define forward and aft axial gaps which allow for normal deflection under standard operating thrust loads, but then close during a fan blade out event to allow the increased load to transfer to the damper housing. Frictional forces between contacting parts limit torsional windup and increase torsional resistance with increasing load. The damper bearing assembly includes a damper housing configured substantially within a U-shaped spring finger housing and a spanner nut with a radial hook portion coupled to the spring finger housing. The damper housing is coupled to the spring finger housing such that it is substantially confined within the U-shaped void. The spanner nut is coupled to the spring finger housing such that the radial hook portion is configured to limit the deflection of the spring finger housing and damper housing during a fan blade out event.
