  • Patent number: 9926144
Abstract: A lumber transfer system for transferring pieces of lumber comprising a feeding conveyor having a conveying surface for receiving the pieces of lumber; a plurality of grasping assemblies spaced apart transversely along the conveying surface, each one of the grasping assemblies comprising a grasping finger able to be positioned independently for either grasping a piece of lumber located upstream from the grasping assembly and moving it, or preventing it from grasping a piece of lumber; a detection system for detecting a presence of a piece of lumber and producing signals; and a controller controlling the grasping assemblies for the grasping fingers to be positioned independently. The lumber transfer system is therefore able to have only grasping fingers responsible to grasp the piece of lumber to be in a grasping position.

  • Patent number: 9926128
Abstract: A wall-mounted, vertical holder, organizer and dispenser for pet waste bag rolls. Pet waste bag rolls come in standardized sizes wound about a spool, each bag separated from the next by a serrated transversal line. These rolls can be fed horizontally from the top of the dispenser to remain held and organized in the dispenser in a stacked configuration. The dispenser facilitates a bag being separated from the bottom-most roll, pulled through a wedge and chute located near the base on the front of the dispenser, and torn off for use without dislodging the bags from the dispenser or the dispenser from the wall. The wedge holds the next bag in the chute, ready for next use.

  • Patent number: 9927792
Abstract: A technique is disclosed for facilitating editing of editable code in an interface device or similar apparatus. Properties of device elements are enumerated by a general purpose engine resident on the interface device. The general purpose engine enumerates the properties in response to a query in a design-time environment. The device element includes a specific property type and editable code consistent with the property type. A server module on the device serves the editable code and an editing environment from the interface device to a configuration station. The code can be edited on the configuration station in the editing environment and restored to the interface device. The technique alleviates the need for separate editing software or storage of the editable code in any location other than on the interface device itself.

  • Patent number: 9928726
Abstract: A programmable interface module includes a linear power regulator to control and provide power to interfaced components on an as needed basis. The interface module is implemented in, for example, a sensor pack and multiplexed to a plurality of sensor modules. In a first mode, the linear voltage regulator provides a relatively small amount of power which allows a sensor module to output a signal responsive to detecting an environmental condition (e.g., gamma or x-ray radiation, extreme temperatures, etc.). The interface module can switch the linear voltage regulator to a second mode in which the linear voltage regulator ramps up the amount of power provided to a detecting sensor module. The sensor module can then provide a level indicative of a concentration or intensity of the environmental condition. If the level surpasses a predetermined threshold, the sensor pack can output an alert signal to security server.

  • Patent number: 9925372
Abstract: Apparatus (100) and method are disclosed for removing or reducing the number of particles in an enclosed atmosphere during intracorporeal procedures. The apparatus comprises a housing (180) adapted to be placed against the body on which a procedure is to be formed, a first electrode (140) external to the housing for contacting the body, an elongated electrically insulated probe (130) extending from the housing (180) and being insertable into an intracorporeal body cavity (C) in which a procedure is to be performed, a second electrode (150) at the free end of the probe, and circuit means (110) for generating voltage between said first and second electrodes. The method comprises applying a voltage between the electrodes sufficient to cause local ionization of particles within the body cavity such that they migrate away from the second electrode, thereby removing or reducing the number of particles generated during the procedure from the enclosed atmosphere at or around the site of the procedure.

  • Patent number: 9929907
Abstract: A wireless access point device capable of detecting out-of-band interference to the operation of the Wi-Fi network caused by LTE small cell devices such as macrocells and femtocells. A flow processor monitors the characteristics of data flows of devices connected to the wireless access point to determine whether they are LTE cells based on MAC address matching or the termination of a flow at a known mobile network operator gateway. A mitigation action to change the operational behavior of the wireless access point is then generated and applied to mitigate the effect of the detected interference device on the Wi-Fi network.

  • Patent number: 9930783
Abstract: Passive device assembly for accurate ground plane control is disclosed. A passive device assembly includes a device substrate conductively coupled to a ground plane separation control substrate. A passive device disposed on a lower surface of the device substrate is separated from an embedded ground plane mounted on a lower surface of the ground plane separation control substrate by a separation distance. The separation distance is accurately controlled to minimize undesirable interference that may occur to the passive device. The separation distance is provided inside the passive device assembly. Conductive mounting pads are disposed on the lower surface of the ground plane separation control substrate to support accurate alignment of the passive device assembly on a circuit board. By providing sufficient separation distance inside the passive device assembly, the passive device assembly can be precisely mounted onto any circuit board regardless of specific design and layout of the circuit board.

  • Publication number: 20180081506
Abstract: A system is provided for selectively presenting a portion of an event to a user. The system includes a first device, a second device, and a network allowing communication between the first and the second device. An application at the first device displays a plurality of sub-events that characterize an event; receives an input from a user whereby the user selects a sub-event from the plurality of sub-events; sends a request to a second device, the request comprising information associated with the selected sub-event; receives media data from the second device whereby the media data represents the selected sub-event; and presents the received media data. An application at the second device receives the request from the first device, selects the media data that represents the selected sub-event from a database using the information associated with the selected sub-event, and sends the selected media data to the first device.

  • Publication number: 20180082405
Abstract: An image such as a light-field image may be processed to provide depth-based blurring. The image may be received in a data store. At an input device, first and second user input may be received to designate a first focus depth and a second focus depth different from the first focus depth, respectively. A processor may identify one or more foreground portions of the image that have one or more foreground portion depths, each of which is less than the first focus depth. The processor may also identify one or more background portions of the image that have one or more background portion depths, each of which is greater than the second focus depth. The processor may also apply blurring to the one or more foreground portions and the one or more background portions to generate a processed image, which may be displayed on a display device.

  • Publication number: 20180083783
Abstract: A system for authentication and validation of the identity of a person. The person carries a mobile device configured to measure motion as the person walks or stands still, generating a time record of motion data. A security system in a facility which the person seeks to access receives the time record of motion data and compares gait characteristics inferred from the time record with gait characteristics inferred from motion data previously obtained for a person whom the person seeking access purports to be. The security system may instruct the person to pause and stand still, and then to begin walking again, and it may then verify that the received time record of motion data includes an interval with little motion at a point in the time record corresponding to the pause.
