  • Publication number: 20180288480
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided herein for recommending a media asset based on a geographic location at which that media asset was frequently consumed. For example, the system may monitor a location, such as New York City or Times Square, to determine popular media assets watched there, such as “The Avengers,” and when another user visits New York City, the system may then notify the user that the movie, such as “The Avengers,” is associated with New York City. The system stores the geographic locations associated with the media asset in the database based on the consumption of the media asset so that other users may be notified which media assets are associated with each geographic location.

  • Publication number: 20180288490
Abstract: Systems and methods for presenting custom navigation options are described herein. In some embodiments, the media guidance application displays a first portion of a media asset, and receives a user selection of an entity depicted within the portion. The media guidance application identifies a playlist of media asset portions associated with the entity, and generates for display a transport bar associated with the entity comprising an indicator identifying the entity and only one or more regions associated with the playlist of media asset portions. The media guidance application then receives a second user selection, and generates for display a second portion of the media asset associated with the entity in response. In some embodiments, the media guidance application identifies the playlist by searching a custom presentation database for entries associated with the entity, and retrieves the playlist from the identified entry.

  • Publication number: 20180288477
Abstract: Systems and methods for disambiguation of an ambiguous entity in a search query based on the gaze of a user. These systems and methods may be implemented by a media guidance application (e.g., executed by user equipment associated with the user). In some aspects, the media guidance application may monitor the gaze of the user and attempt to disambiguate the ambiguous entity based on an area of the screen the user viewed while issuing the search query. If the media guidance application receives an indication that it did not disambiguate the ambiguous entity in the search query correctly, the media guidance application may increase the area of the screen that the user viewed in order to find an additional entity. This may allow the media guidance application to quickly and accurately find the correct answer to the user's search query.

  • Patent number: 10091405
Abstract: Systems and methods for reducing motion blur in images or video in ultra low light with array cameras in accordance with embodiments of the invention are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for synthesizing an image from multiple images captured using an array camera includes capturing image data using active cameras within an array camera, where the active cameras are configured to capture image data and the image data includes pixel brightness values that form alternate view images captured from different viewpoints, determining sets of corresponding pixels in the alternate view images where each pixel in a set of corresponding pixels is chosen from a different alternate view image, summing the pixel brightness values for corresponding pixels to create pixel brightness sums for pixel locations in an output image, and synthesizing an output image from the viewpoint of the output image using the pixel brightness sums.

  • Patent number: 10091331
Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes identifying, with a computer system that has a network interface, one or more primary categories of content from a social networking system that are of primary relevance to a user of a computing device, as compared to one or more secondary categories of content from the social networking system that are of lower importance to the user of the computing device; causing content from the primary categories to be downloaded from the social networking system to the computing device automatically and without user interaction with a social networking application that is arranged to display the downloaded content; and causing content from the secondary categories to be downloaded from the social networking system to the computing device separately from the content from the primary categories, and in response to a defined user interaction with a social networking application that corresponds to the social networking system.

  • Patent number: 10085811
Abstract: A telesurgery system having a surgical assembly with a motor and a surgical instrument. The surgical assembly has at least one drive mechanism driven by the motor. A sensor assembly is coupled to non-volatile memory, and is for recording position of the at least one rotatable mechanism to the non-volatile memory. A controller is communicatively coupled to the sensor assembly. The controller a processor configured to execute a method. In the method, rotational position of the a drive mechanism is recorded to the non-volatile memory during use of the surgical assembly. A mid-procedure shut-down of the surgical assembly is then initiated. A request is then received to initiate a mid-procedure restart of the surgical assembly. It is then determined whether a post-shutdown position of the drive mechanism is within an accepted tolerance with respect to a pre-shutdown position to allow the mid-procedure restart to complete.
