  • Publication number: 20180189389
Abstract: Techniques facilitating using flow graphs to represent a data analysis program in a cloud based system for open science collaboration and discovery are provided. In an example, a system can represent a data analysis execution as a flow graph where vertices of the flow graph represent function calls made during the data analysis program and edges between the vertices represent objects passed between the functions. In another example, the flow graph can then be annotated using an annotation database to label the recognized function calls and objects. In another example, the system can then semantically label the annotated flow graph by aligning the annotated graph with a knowledge base of data analysis concepts to provide context for the operations being performed by the data analysis program.

  • Patent number: 9702971
Abstract: A system and method for high-availability inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR). In one embodiment a set of quadratic phase vectors, each corresponding to a different acceleration, is multiplied, one at a time, in a Hadamard product, with a 3-dimensional data cube, and a fast Fourier transform (FFT) is taken of the result, to form a 2-dimensional array. The two-dimensional array is made sparse by setting to zero elements that fall below a threshold based on a coherency metric, and the sparse arrays are stacked to form a sparse 3-dimensional image. Projections of the sparse 3-dimensional image are formed for presentation to an operator or an image exploitation system.

  • Patent number: 9655745
Abstract: A method of producing an interbody spinal implant. The method includes the steps of obtaining a blank having a top surface, bottom surface, opposing lateral sides, and opposing anterior and posterior portions, and applying a subtractive process (e.g., masked acid etching) to the top surface, the bottom surface, or both surfaces of the blank to form a roughened surface topography. Subsequently, the blank is machined to form the interbody spinal implant, which includes a body having a top surface, a bottom surface, opposing lateral sides, opposing anterior and posterior portions, a substantially hollow center, and a single vertical aperture where the top surface, the bottom surface, or both surfaces of the interbody spinal implant have the roughened surface topography produced by the subtractive process. This simplified method produces more accurate and repeatable implants with fewer process steps and defects, reducing process time and costs.

  • Patent number: 9615935
Abstract: Thermal memory springs may form arches, or have coils or spring arms and truss arms that expand from a relaxed state when the thermal memory springs warm to a temperature that is about the body temperature of a human being. The thermal memory springs may be used to expand interbody implants from a compact state into an expanded state once the implant has been inserted into the desired location within the body and the thermal memory springs that form a part of the implant warms to body temperature. Ends of the expanded thermal memory spring may contact a bone surface, thereby being an anti-expulsion edge.

  • Publication number: 20160143304
Abstract: A composition and method for a high solids yogurt with reduced water activity. The high solids yogurt can be formed, for example, by culturing a high solids milk. Lactose present in the high solids milk can be hydrolyzed to glucose and galactose. Water activity of the yogurt can be further reduced by applying a vacuum-dehydration process to the high solids yogurt. The water activity of the yogurt can also be reduced by adding solutes to the yogurt. The composition can be used in food products, either in isolation or in combination with other components, for example, grain-based components.
