  • Patent number: 11847254
Abstract: An apparatus for preventing physical intrusion on a data bus includes a data bus state sensor coupled to the data bus for monitoring a state of the data bus, a power circuit for generating multiple voltages supplied to functional circuitry in the apparatus, and a variable override circuit. The variable override circuit receives one or more voltages from the power circuit and selectively gates the voltages onto the data bus as a function of one or more control signals. A controller coupled to the variable override circuit, the power circuit and the state sensor receives state information from the state sensor and generates the control signals in response to detection of physical intrusion on the data bus. The controller controls a voltage level of at least one of the voltages generated by the power circuit for overriding the data bus when physical intrusion is detected on the data bus.

  • Patent number: 11786141
Abstract: Enteral tubes, tube tip detection systems, and methods for detecting tube misplacement are provided. For example, a tube tip detection system comprises an enteral tube having a tip and a first light disposed at the tip that is illuminated as the enteral tube is inserted into a patient to indicate to a user of the system whether the tip is misplaced in the patient's airway. Similarly, enteral tubes are provided that comprise a tip, a length, and a light that is continuously illuminated as the enteral tube is inserted into a patient. Methods for detecting a tube misplacement in a patient's airway include embedding a light into an enteral tube, inserting the enteral tube into the patient through the patient's nose or mouth, and monitoring a location of the light as the enteral tube is inserted into the patient to determine if the tube is traveling into the patient's airway.

  • Publication number: 20230280224
Abstract: A calibration monitoring system is provided to automatically monitor the calibration status of tools and other inventory items, such as upon the items being issued from or returned to the automated calibration monitoring system. The system identifies an inventory item, for example a calibrated torque wrench or other calibrated tool identified based on a unique identifying tag attached thereto. The system retrieves a calibration parameter value for the item from a calibration database, and completes a calibration measurement of the item based on the calibration parameter value. In the example, a torque measurement of the calibrated torque wrench can thus be automatically completed. In turn, the system determines a current calibration status of the item based on the calibration measurement, and selectively enables or disables issuance of the inventory item from the system according to the item's status as being in calibration or out of calibration.

  • Publication number: 20230158557
Abstract: Medical diagnostic devices or components thereof are described that comprise a microstructured surface that comprises peak structures and adjacent valleys wherein the valleys have a maximum width ranging from 1 to 1000 microns and the peak structures. In some embodiments (e.g. for improved cleanability) the peak structures of the microstructured surface have a side wall angle of greater than 10 degrees. The peak structures may comprise two or more facets such as in the case of a linear array of prisms or an array of cube-comers elements. The microstructured surface of the medical diagnostic device typically comes in contact with multiple patients during normal use of the device, such as a stethoscope diaphragm. The microstructured surface exhibits better microorganism (e.g. bacteria) removal when cleaned and/or provides a reduction in microbial touch transfer. Also described are methods of making and methods of use.
