  • Publication number: 20110035420
Abstract: A location beacon database and server, method of building location beacon database, and location based service using same. Wi-Fi access points are located in a target geographical area to build a reference database of locations of Wi-Fi access points. At least one vehicle is deployed including at least one scanning device having a GPS device and a Wi-Fi radio device and including a Wi-Fi antenna system. The target area is traversed in a programmatic route to avoid arterial bias. The programmatic route includes substantially all drivable streets in the target geographical area and solves an Eulerian cycle problem of a graph represented by said drivable streets. While traversing the target area, periodically receive the GPS coordinates of the GPS device.

  • Publication number: 20110034127
Abstract: A method for setting up a direct link between a first client station and a second client station is described. The method is performed by the first client station. The first client station communicates with a group owner (GO) via a first peer to peer (P2P) wireless link. Whether to set up a tunneled direct link setup (TDLS) direct link between the first client station and the second client station is determined. The TDLS direct link between the first client station and the second client station is set up. The first client station then communicates directly with the second client station via the TDLS direct link.

  • Publication number: 20110031301
Abstract: A method for joining components to be used in an electrical generator. First and second components are provided. The first and second components are preheated and a reactive bonding material is disposed between and in contact with the first and second components. The reactive bonding material includes a first material, which is a brazing material, and a second material that is capable of melting the first material upon an initiation of an exothermic reaction in the second material. An exothermic reaction is initiated in the second material to effect a release of thermal energy from the second material to melt the first material. Upon a cooling and solidification of the first material, the first material creates a bond between a first surface of the first component and a second surface of the second component to join the first and second components together.

  • Patent number: 7886021
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing a development and deployment platform for Software as a Service (SaaS) providers are disclosed. The platform may provide an application programming interface (API) through which customers may configure virtualized grids of language-level virtual machines (VMs), networks, and storage resources. A grid may be horizontally scalable and programmatically configurable by a customer and/or customer code. The platform may allow dynamic scaling of resources (up and down) to match changing demands, by allowing customers and/or customer code to programmatically alter their own system level structure at runtime, through the API. The grid may be accessed by both on-grid and off-grid processes, through internal and external connectivity resources provided by the platform. The platform may provide common utilities for end-user services, deployment operations, and development tasks (e.g., debugging), and may include frameworks and macro-components (e.g. web servers).

  • Patent number: 7883526
Abstract: A coil device is provided with a stretch resistant feature. The device includes a wound coil defining a lumen and a stretch resistant member at least partially received within the lumen. A headpiece is formed by a joining of the coil and a restrictor member, typically by plasma welding. The restrictor member is also at least partially received within the lumen and defines an aperture adapted to movably receive a portion of the stretch resistant member to allow the wound coil to stretch and elongate. The stretch resistant member includes an enlarged portion that is larger than the aperture and adapted to engage the restrictor member to prevent or resist stretching of the wound coil. The restrictor member may be provided as a separate element fixedly secured to the coil wire, or the coil wire may include one or more minor turns adapted to perform the function of the restrictor member.

  • Patent number: 7886193
Abstract: Software error feedback information, typically that associated with authorization failures due to operating system resource access checks, is automatically communicated to a software vendor with actions needed to prevent the software application error from occurring on the client computer. If possible, information associated with the software error is communicated to the client computer in order to mitigate the error by modifying how the client computer's operating system interacts with the software application so that the error may be avoided and user interaction minimized. Modifications may include automatically redirecting a resource request associated with the authorization failure in a manner such that authorization will be granted by the operating system and prevent the authorization failure due to the access check.

  • Patent number: 7885480
Abstract: A correlation function peak finding method for an image correlation displacement sensing system is provided. The method may include capturing a reference image and a displaced image, and searching for an initial peak correlation function value point (CFVP) with pixel-level resolution based on correlating the reference image and displaced images at a plurality of offset positions. Then a complete set of CFVPs may be determined at each offset position in an analysis region surrounding the initial peak CFVP. Then a preliminary correlation function peak location is estimated with sub-pixel resolution, based on CFVPs included in the analysis region. Finally, curve-fitting operations are performed to estimate a final correlation function peak location with sub-pixel accuracy, wherein the curve-fitting operations apply a windowing function and/or a set of weighting factors that is/are located with sub-pixel resolution based on the preliminary sub-pixel correlation function peak location.
