  • Patent number: 10761802
Abstract: In general, the subject matter described in this disclosure can be embodied in methods, systems, and program products for indicating a reference song. A computing device stores reference song characterization data that identifies a plurality of audio characteristics for each reference song in a plurality of reference songs. The computing device receives digital audio data that represents audio recorded by a microphone, converts the digital audio data from time-domain format into frequency-domain format, and uses the digital audio data in the frequency-domain format in a music-characterization process. In response to determining that characterization values for the digital audio data are most relevant to characterization values for a particular reference song, the computing device outputs an indication of the particular reference song.

  • Patent number: 10762695
Abstract: Rendering shadows of transparent objects using ray tracing in real-time is disclosed. For each pixel in an image, a ray is launched towards the light source. If the ray intersects a transparent object, lighting information (e.g., color, brightness) is accumulated for the pixel. A new ray is launched from the point of intersection, either towards the light source or in a direction based on reflection/refraction from the surface. Ray tracing continues recursively, accumulating lighting information at each transparent object intersection. Ray tracing terminates when a ray intersects an opaque object, indicating a dark shadow. Ray tracing also terminates when a ray exits the scene without intersecting an object, where the accumulated lighting information is used to render a shadow for the pixel location. Soft shadows can be rendered using the disclosed technique by launching a plurality of rays in different directions based on a size of the light source.

  • Patent number: 10762702
Abstract: A complex three-dimensional virtual representation of an object can be rendered. Virtual images can be captured representing a plurality of views of the complex virtual representation. The virtual images can be converted into binary masks depicting the object pixels and non-object pixels in the virtual images. The binary masks can be used to create a three-dimensional representation of the object having lower complexity than the first three-dimensional virtual representation of the object. In embodiments, the low complexity three-dimensional virtual representation of the object and the virtual images are sent to a mobile device to render a low payload representation of the object on the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 10759548
Abstract: A controller arrangement includes a controller, an actuator, and a measuring element. The measuring element captures a control variable with a predetermined sampling rate in consecutive sampling cycles and transmits it to the controller. The controller compares the control variable with a predetermined reference variable and determines how the control variable differs from the reference variable. The controller, in a first cycle, starts with a predetermined regulating variable and outputs it to the actuator, and subsequently determines how the control variable differs from the reference variable; in a second cycle, the controller varies the regulating variable based on the difference of the control variable from the reference variable in the first cycle, and outputs it to the actuator, and subsequently determines how the control variable differs from the reference variable; in a third cycle, the controller varies the regulating variable and outputs it to the actuator.

  • Publication number: 20200270683
Abstract: Stem cell maturation is a fundamental, yet poorly understood aspect of human development. A DNA methylation signature deeply reminiscent of embryonal stem cells was devised to interrogate the evolving character of multiple human tissues. The cell fraction displaying the signature was found to be highly dependent upon developmental stage (fetal vs adult) and in leukocytes, it described a dynamic transition during the first 5 years of life. Significant individual variation in the embryonic signature of leukocytes was evident at birth, in childhood, and throughout adult life. The genes denoting the signature included transcription factors and proteins intimately involved in embryonic development. The DNA methylation signature traces the developmental origin of cells and informs the study of stem cell heterogeneity in humans under homeostatic and pathologic conditions.

  • Publication number: 20200268686
Abstract: Provided are processes for the prevention or treatment of viral infection in a subject. Some aspects provide administration of a sphingoid compound, optionally sphingosine, an active ingredient that activates generation of a sphingoid base, optionally of sphingosine; or an active agent that inhibits the degradation of a sphingoid base, optionally of sphingosine, to a subject such as a human. By increasing the local concentration of sphingosine in a subject or an area of a subject to which the composition is administered such as the nose or interior of the nose or portion thereof, the ability of viruses to infect the subject or cells thereof is reduced thereby treating of preventing infection by the virus.
