  • Publication number: 20050085376
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of preparing a supported catalyst from a liquid catalyst system dispersed on a solid carrier. The method of this embodiment comprises freezing the liquid catalyst system in a non-reactive liquid to form a frozen catalyst system dispersed within the non-reactive liquid. The frozen catalyst system is then contacted with a solid carrier. Finally, the non-reactive liquid is removed to yield the supported catalyst. In another embodiment, a supported catalyst made by the methods of the present invention is provided.

  • Publication number: 20050057755
Abstract: A method of measuring at least one parameter associated with a portion of a sample having formed thereon one or more structures with at least two zones each having an associated zone reflectance property. The method includes the steps of illuminating the zones with broadband light, and measuring at least one reflectance property of light reflected from the at least two zones. The measurement includes a substantial portion of non-specularly scattered light, thereby increasing the quality of the measurement. The method further includes the step of fitting a parameterized model to the measured reflectance property. The parameterized model mixes the zone reflectance properties of the zones to account for partially coherent light interactions between the two zones.

  • Patent number: 6855223
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an elasticized composite material including a multiplicity of elastic strips for use in garments, particularly in disposable absorbent articles is disclosed. The method includes the steps of folding the first substrate around the mandrel to form a tube while moving the tube longitudinally at a first velocity, and simultaneously winding at least one elastic strip around an outer surface of the tube at a second velocity to form a helical path. The elastic strip can be joined to the outer surface of the tube along the helical path to form a first composite tube. The method further includes the step of folding a second substrate around the first composite tube to cover the elastic strip and to form a second composite tube, which then can be slit longitudinally to form a planar composite material. Finally, the planar composite material can be activated to form the elasticized composite material.

  • Publication number: 20050018190
Abstract: Alignment accuracy between two or more patterned layers is measured using a metrology target comprising substantially overlapping diffraction gratings formed in a test area of the layers being tested. An optical instrument illuminates all or part of the target area and measures the optical response. The instrument can measure transmission, reflectance, and/or ellipsometric parameters as a function of wavelength, polar angle of incidence, azimuthal angle of incidence, and/or polarization of the illumination and detected light. Overlay error or offset between those layers containing the test gratings is determined by a processor programmed to calculate an optical response for a set of parameters that include overlay error, using a model that accounts for diffraction by the gratings and interaction of the gratings with each others' diffracted field. The model parameters might also take account of manufactured asymmetries.

  • Publication number: 20040246482
Abstract: A method for measuring overlay in semiconductor wafers includes a calibration phase in which a series of calibration samples are analyzed. Each calibration sample has an overlay that is known to be less than a predetermined limit. A difference spectrum for a pair of reflectively symmetric overlay targets is obtained for each calibration sample. The difference spectra are then combined to define a gross overlay indicator. In subsequent measurements of actual wafers, difference spectra are compared to the overlay indicator to detect cases of gross overlay.

  • Publication number: 20040066517
Abstract: A method for optically inspecting and evaluating a semiconductor wafer includes projecting a probe beam at two overlay targets. Each overlay target includes an upper grating and a lower grating. At each target, the combined intensity of the 1st diffracted orders generated by the upper and lower gratings are measured. The combined intensity of the −1st diffracted orders generated by the upper and lower gratings are also measured for each target. The method then calculates an overlay offset between an upper layer and a lower layer as a function of the measured intensity information.

  • Publication number: 20030147070
Abstract: A calibration method suitable for highly precise and highly accurate surface metrology measurements is described. In preferred embodiments, an optical inspection tool including a movable optics system is characterized in terms of position and wavelength dependent quantities over a range of motion. Once the position-dependant quantities are determined at various wavelengths and positions, they are stored and used to interpret data from test wafers having an unknown metrology. Free of position-dependent variations and other information pertaining to the measurement system, the accuracy of the resulting wafer measurement more closely matches the precision of the tool than existing techniques. In particular embodiments, a portion of the characterization of the optical system is accomplished by using tilted black glass to provide a non-reflective reference.

  • Patent number: 6589054
Abstract: A method and device using stress waves for dental examination. According to the method, the dental structure (such as a tooth) under examination is subjected to a stress (acoustic) wave. The stress wave propagates through the dental structure and is received on the other side. From the analysis of the transmission time and/or the resulting waveform, diagnostic information results as to the presence of dental disease such as dental caries that may be present on the tooth surface under dental restorations such as fillings or metal crowns. According to the invention, the stress wave is generated by a suitable transducer, coupled to the dental structure through a transmission medium, propagates through the dental structure, coupled through another transmission medium, received by a acousto-electric transducer, and analyzed by suitable electronic means.
