    Abstract: A thermochromic ink composition is provided for use on security documents such as checks which provides a reversible color change in response to heat. The ink composition includes a thermochromic aqueous slurry and an ink vehicle comprising either a phenolic modified rosin and a compatible oil, a styrene maleic anhydride resin and a glycol, or an acrylic resin varnish. The ink composition is printed on at least a portion of a substrate using letterpress printing methods and provides enhanced adhesion to toner when applied to areas of a substrate which are subsequently printed with a non-impact printing device such as a laser printer.

    Abstract: A software tool providing a single access mechanism for diverse and varied information spaces. The invention incorporates a plurality of navigator interfaces, including: a "How do I?" navigator, an Index navigator, a Tree navigator, and a Search Term navigator. Each navigator operates across the entire information space, allowing the user to find information in any available online source. The user can switch between the various navigators at will. The present invention presents search results to the user in a uniform manner through iconographic and textual descriptions of the information at the other end of the link. The user then selects the information to view. After the user has performed a search of the information space and viewed the description of the search results, the invention also allows the user to perform a "cross reference" operation, the results of which can be viewed using the same or different navigator.

The thermal ink preferably has a solids content of between about 40 to 60% by weight, and is substantially free of pigments and fillers.

    Abstract: Software implementing a display technique called "miniviews." Miniviews provide a single viewing mechanism for information from a variety of sources and keep supplemental and related information within easy reach by a user without interrupting the flow of a main information concept. Miniviews are displayed when predetermined portions of the surrounding browser is expanded and can be displayed in any order as predetermined by the author, depending on the portions of the surrounding browser expanded by the user. Miniviews reference the original copy of the information displayed therein, such that if the information at the single location is changed, information displayed in the miniview is also changed. A miniview of information attempts to duplicate the appearance of the native browser for that information. At the same time, where a native browser allows the user to range freely through a certain type of information, miniviews only allow a predetermined amount of information from given source to be displayed.

    Abstract: The present invention is directed to an electrical connector for blocking direct current while permitting transmission of alternating currents. The connector includes a first connector member and a second connector member for matingly receiving the first connector member. The first connector member includes a first conductor and the second connector member having a second conductor. The first and second conductors are positioned adjacent to one another and spaced apart by a layer of dielectric material. The dielectric material provides capacitive coupling of alternating currents from one conductor to the other while preventing coupling of direct current from one to the other. It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved electrical connector with an integral dielectric coating for direct current blockage.

    Abstract: A stirrup buckle for releasably connecting a stirrup strap to the saddle strap of a saddle. The buckle is a two piece assembly having a base mounting plate with side flanges and a pivoting angled tongue lever member connected thereto pivotally mounted between the side flanges. The base mounting plate securely attaches the buckle to the stirrup strap. At least one post and preferably, a pair of posts are formed on the underside of the tongue lever member. The posts are spaced apart in a side by side relationship extending inwardly from the rear underside of the tongue lever member for insertion through selected spaced holes of the saddle strap. The posts located on the tongue lever member extend through matching slots formed through the surface of the base plate flush with the exterior surface for securing the two straps together.

    Abstract: A method and system for recovering metal from steel waste products is disclosed. This method and system works on such hazardous and/or toxic wastes as mill scale, flue dust and slag. This method and system operates by mixing the steel waste produce with a flux composition and then melting the mix in a single phase two electrode electric arc furnace. Once the mixture is melted by the heat from the electrodes, the electro-magnetic field induced in the melted mixture serves to enhance the recovery from the steel waste product of useful steel material. Furthermore, this method and system provide a cost effective solution to the hazardous waste disposal problems impacting steel refineries around the world and does so in a manner that removes the toxicity of the waste while producing a variety of useful products, including high grade steel and neutralized fill.

The mixture containing these components is reacted to form microcapsules containing the core material. The tertiary aliphatic isocyanate preferably comprises an adduct of m-tetramethylxylene diisocyanate and trimethylolpropane. The core material may contain a dyestuff precursor which is capable of reacting with a color developer to form a color. The microcapsules containing dyestuff precursor may be used to coat a support sheet to form carbonless copy paper.

Protonation of the amino groups with an aqueous acid causes the polymer to absorb up to 1,700% by weight of water and swell. The protonated amino groups form a complex with an antithrombogenic agent to give an antithrombogenic polyurethane. The invention includes a shaped article of the polyurethane.
