Abstract: A method of forming a semiconductor device is provided including the following steps. A substrate having a first voltage area and a second voltage area is provided. A first oxide layer is formed in the first voltage area. The first oxide layer is removed to form a recess in the first voltage area. A shallow trench isolation (STI) structure is formed in the substrate, wherein a first portion of the STI structure is located in the first voltage area and a second portion of the STI structure is located in the second voltage area, a top surface of the STI structure is higher than the top surface of the substrate, and a bottom surface of the first portion of the STI structure in the first voltage area is lower than a bottom surface of the second portion of the STI structure in the second voltage area.

Abstract: A chip package having ESD protection and a method for making the chip are disclosed. The chip package includes a chip and a substrate. The chip includes a number of I/O pads each connected to a corresponding I/O contact via a first bonding wire. It also includes a number of ESD protective pads each connected to a corresponding ESD contact via a second bonding wire. Bonding wires connecting the ESD protective pads and the ESD contacts have vertexes closer to the top surface of the chip than the vertexes of the bonding wires connecting the I/O pads and the I/O contacts. Hence, a perfect ESD protection effect is achieved by leading the ESD through the bonding wires to the ESD contacts rather than via the I/O contacts.

Abstract: A data storage device including a flash memory and a controller is provided. The flash memory has a plurality of TLC blocks, each of which includes a plurality of pages. The controller checks whether any of the TLC blocks was undergoing a write operation and unfinished at the time that the power-off event occurred when the data storage device resumes operation after a power-off event. When a first TLC block was undergoing the write operation and unfinished at the time that the power-off event occurred, the controller further checks whether data stored in a page which was the last one being written in the first TLC block can be successfully read, and continues to write the remaining data into the first TLC block when the data of the page which was the last one being written in the first TLC block can be successfully read.

Abstract: A light emitting diode chip scale packaging structure and a direct type backlight module are disclosed. The light emitting diode chip scale packaging structure includes a light emitting diode chip, a wavelength converting layer, a diffusion structure and a lens. The wavelength converting layer is disposed on the light emitting diode chip and directly contacting the light emitting diode chip, and the wavelength converting layer includes phosphor powders. The diffusion structure covers the light emitting diode chip and the wavelength converting layer, a ratio of a height of the diffusion structure to a width of the diffusion structure is 1:2 to 5:4, and the lens covers the diffusion structure. An outer surface of the lens is a free-form surface, and a material of the lens is different from a material of the diffusion structure.

Abstract: A method for selecting a prediction mode of an intra prediction, a video encoding device and an image processing apparatus are provided. The method includes following steps. Multiple prediction costs corresponding to multiple prediction modes of the intra prediction are calculated according to a block of an input image in case that a transform unit transforms according to a default transform index. Multiple candidate prediction modes are selected from the prediction modes based on the prediction costs corresponding to the prediction modes. Multiple distortion costs corresponding to the candidate prediction modes under a plurality of transform indexes are calculated based on the block and the prediction costs corresponding to the candidate prediction modes. And, one of the candidate prediction modes is selected according to the distortion costs to serve as a prediction mode to be used of the intra prediction corresponding to the block.

Abstract: A system including a basic content pool; a server for content recommendation; and a client terminal. The basic content pool stores one or more contents. The client terminal monitors a user input and provides the user input to the server for content recommendation. The server for content recommendation receives the user input provided by the client terminal, creates a personal content pool for the user, searches matching contents from the basic content pool according to the user input, and inputs the matching contents into the personal content pool. The client terminal, when a preset triggering condition is satisfied, receives a content provided by the server for content recommendation from the personal content pool, and displays the content. The techniques of the present disclosure provide individualized search service, thereby improving user experiences.

Abstract: A light emitting diode driving circuit is provided for driving a first LED unit and a second LED unit. The light emitting diode driving circuit includes a power supply, a detection unit, a serial-parallel circuit, and a control unit. The serial-parallel circuit is coupled to the first LED unit and the second LED unit and establishes a serial connection or a parallel connection for the first LED unit and the second LED unit. The detection unit is coupled to an output end of the power supply for generating a corresponding detection signal according to an output voltage of the power supply. The control unit is arranged between the detection unit and the serial-parallel circuit. The control unit determines the first LED unit and the second LED unit to be set up in the serial connection or in the parallel connection according to the corresponding detection signal.

Abstract: Data arrangement schemes of imagery data and filter coefficients stored in a CNN based digital IC for extracting features out of an input image are disclosed. The CNN based digital IC contains NE number of CNN processing engines connected in a loop via a clock-skew circuit for cyclic data access. Imagery data and filter coefficients are arranged in a specific scheme to fit the data access pattern that the CNN based digital IC requires to operate. The specific scheme is determined based on the number of imagery data, the number of filters and the characteristics of the CNN based digital IC. The characteristics include, but are not limited to, the number of CNN processing engines, the connection direction of clock-skew circuit and the number of the I/O data bus.

A mid-portion of the protector is disposed between the first and second ends.
