  • Patent number: 10641035
Abstract: A glazing system that facilitates protecting windows from damage caused by high winds. The glazing system, for use with windows in doors, transoms, and in windows adjacent to doorways is an extruded polymeric frame that surrounds and supports and seals the window in place. The frame includes a stacked screw boss accessible from the exterior after removing a lineal cap. The screw boss receives screws use to hold a panel in place over the window during high winds to protect the window and which panel may be easily and quickly removed when the high winds pass. The interior side of the frame also has a screw path usable for attaching brackets for blinds to the back of the frame.

  • Patent number: 10604989
Abstract: A window frame protection system, for holding an exterior and an interior protective panel against a window, includes an extruded lineal having a first stacked screw boss, an exterior protective panel and a groove with covering cap. Anchoring screws driven through the exterior panel and into the stacked screw boss hold the panel to the lineal. A chamber for a second stacked screw boss, and a part of the extruded lineal, is to attach an interior panel to the window frame when additional window protection is needed and when the exterior of the window frame is not accessible. The second stacked screw boss may be inserted into the chamber during construction or, if the chamber is left open, may be added only when needed. A sash support on the interior of the window frame receives a sill riser for meeting higher design loads on the window sash.

  • Publication number: 20190311650
Abstract: A system and method may generate a set of meal recommendations. A calorie remainder for a predetermined period of time may be identified based on health data. Restaurant recommendations may be identified using map data, and meal recommendations and their correlated caloric content may be identified based on restaurant data. A caloric expenditure for travel to each of the restaurants may be determined by the system. Finally a set of meal recommendations is generated, using the meals, the caloric remainder, and the caloric expenditure for travel.

  • Patent number: 10173044
Abstract: This document provides fluid handling components. For example, this document relates to taper interface connections such as, but not limited to, luer taper interface connections used to couple fluid handling components in a medical or laboratory setting. In some embodiments, the threaded connection on the male portion of the taper interface is comprised of one or two opposing tabs, rather than a 360° collar like conventional luer lock fittings. As such, the taper interface components provided herein are readily manufacturable with a lower cost than conventional fittings that have a collar. In some embodiments, the taper interface components provided herein are configured for coupling by way of a quick connection technique.

  • Patent number: 9840688
Abstract: A bioreactor system includes a sample chamber capable of receiving a specimen and a cover which can be placed on the chamber to enclose the specimen within the chamber. A first member is movable between (i) a closed position in which the member restricts the cover from being moved away from the chamber in a first direction, and (ii) an open position in which the member does not restrict the cover from being moved away from the chamber. When the first member is in the closed position there is a substantially liquid proof seal between the cover and the chamber.

  • Patent number: 9753104
Abstract: A conditioning system includes a sample chamber capable of receiving a specimen as well as first and second specimen-holding fixtures positioned within the sample chamber and configured to apply mechanical stimulation to a specimen held by the fixtures. The system has at least one port capable of providing a fluid to the sample chamber. The chamber is sized and shaped so that it can be inserted into an imaging device which can record images of a specimen held by the fixtures.

  • Patent number: 9421124
Abstract: An eye mask with an internal heating mechanism worn over the eye and sinus regions of the wearer. The eye mask provides heat and pressure to the face. A plurality of heating wires internal to the mask provide heat, the heating wires being driven by temperature and time controls contained in an external enclosure that may also contain batteries or other connections to a power source. The mask may have pockets for weighted pebbles, magnets or other material for adding weight to the mask to bring the heat closer to the face of the wearer. The mask may have a reflective material in an internal layer to reflect heat from the heating wires back to the face of the wearer. The mask may have a memory foam for molding the mask to the contours of the face, bringing heat to a greater portion of the face of the wearer.
