  • Publication number: 20040174383
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product for performing edits on related curves by automatically defining an associative entity that is upstream of either curve being connected. The connecting entity is called an ‘intermediary’. When creating a connection between curves, irrespective of where they appear in the associative tree, their geometry is made dependent on a common intermediary that is placed upstream of both curves in the tree. With this structure, both curves are related to the intermediary but retain all the properties of being connected to each other. Any edit performed to either curve is redirected through the intermediary such that both curves are simultaneously modified, providing the user with bi-directional propagation of edits. The user does not need to keep track of the order that the curves were related.

  • Publication number: 20040174382
Abstract: A system and method for improving user feedback during graphical edits by dynamically propagating each incremental edit through the dependency tree and displaying real-time updates to the graphic representation as the updates are being made. By updating the image through the entire dependency tree at the earliest possible time, without waiting for the user to complete his edit or to perform an action which manually indicates an update, the user is given improved feedback during the editing process.

  • Publication number: 20040176629
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of preparing O,O-dialkyl S-[2-(alkylthio)alkyl]phosphorodithioates by treating -O,O-dialkyl dithiophosphoric acids with a base in the substantial absence of organic solvent to obtain O,O-dialkyl dithiophosphoric acid salts that are in turn treated with thioalcohol derivatives to form the O,O-dialkyl S-[2-(alkylthio)alkyl]phosphorodithioates.

  • Patent number: 6788770
Abstract: An intelligent voice response (IVR) unit coupled to a public switched telephone network provides predetermined services to a user according to an IVR menu having navigational paths to the predetermined services. The user provides selection signals to the IVR unit via a corresponding telephone call in the public switched telephone network to access the predetermined services. A navigator database stores menu definitions of respective navigational paths and is responsive to a request from the user to provide a digital representation of at least one of the navigational paths. The request identifies a desired navigational path, a desired format for the digital representation, and a destination for delivering the digital representation. An electronic delivery system transmits the digital representation in the desired format to the destination independently of the telephone call.

  • Publication number: 20040168448
Abstract: Each blow-off valve includes a valve body with a first movable wall defining a portion of the liquid fluid passage therein and a second movable wall defining a portion of the suction fluid passage therein. An actuator interconnects the movable walls for simultaneously moving the walls and opening the fluid passages in response to the electrical leakage-warning signal. In the species of FIGS. 2 and 3, the movable walls are integrally united with the valve body and include frangible sections that are fractured by an explosive squib to separate the movable walls from the body to simultaneously open the liquid and suction fluid passages. In the species of FIG. 5, the movable walls are separate valve elements disposed in a circular bore that opens the passages to the ambient surroundings. The actuator includes a spring, for biasing each of the valve elements out of its respective bore, and a holding device that weakens in response to the electrical leakage-warning signal.

  • Publication number: 20040169362
Abstract: A multi-chambered bumper airbag for deployment from the bumper of a vehicle in the event of a collision with another vehicle is provided. The airbag comprises a main inflatable portion that, when inflated, absorbs the energy from contact with a structural member of the struck vehicle. The airbag also has one or more secondary inflatable portion concentric with the main inflatable portion. Because the secondary inflatable portions have a lower gas pressure than the main inflatable portion, they are used to cushion the occupant of the struck vehicle should the occupants' head and neck be forced out of the window of the struck vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6785854
Abstract: A system and method facilitates simplified debugging of internal component scan testing. In an example embodiment, a TAP controlled internal scan test intermediate debugging system includes an intermediate TAP controller internal scan test system, design circuit blocks, a scan test chain primary input pin, a scan test chain final output pin. The components of the intermediate TAP controlled internal scan test debugging system cooperatively operate to facilitate debugging of faults through extraction of intermediate scan test chain signals. The intermediate TAP controller internal scan test system transmits an indicated intermediate scan test chain signal off of the IC as a TAP test data out (TDO) signal. The intermediate TAP controller internal scan test system utilizes an internal scan observe register to store information indicating which intermediate internal scan test chain signal to forward as a TAP TDO signal.

  • Patent number: 6785738
Abstract: The invention is a new field in an ARP packet which designates the canonical format of the addresses written into fields such as ar$sha (the source station hardware address) and ar$spa (the source station protocol address) ar$tha (the target station hardware address), ar$tpa (the target station protocol address) so that a receiving station can determine the canonical format used to create these fields. The station receiving the ARP request or ARP response packet can then write its ARP table entry in the correct canonical format for its computer network.

  • Patent number: 6783368
Abstract: An apparatus to visually and electronically observe the transient temperature changes in a heat-conducting body, and a method for teaching heat conduction to students incorporating the apparatus. The apparatus includes a heat-conducting body, and a pair of electric strip heaters attached to adjacent sides of the heat-conducting body for conducting heat therethrough. A pair of heat exchangers are attached to sides of the heat-conducting body that are opposite to the sides the electric strip heaters are attached to. A thermochromic liquid crystal sheet is provided on a top surface of the heat-conducting body and displays the transient heat conduction through the heat-conducting body. An insulating plate is located above the top surface of the heat-conducting body to create a gap between the thermochromic liquid crystal sheet and the insulating plate.

  • Publication number: 20040168134
Abstract: A processor system has a first device, a clock control circuit and a processor. The first device receives a clock signal, runs a plurality of operations including a lengthy operation requiring more than a single clock cycle to complete, and produces a control signal when the lengthy operation is activated. The clock control circuit receives the clock signal and outputs a gated clock signal only when the first device is not producing the control signal. The processor unit runs off of the gated clock signal. The first device may be a memory, and the lengthy operation may be correction of a soft error in memory. According to a second aspect, the first device requires a longer clock cycle rather than more clock cycles. The clock can be gated to effectively double the period when the lengthy operation is activated.

  • Publication number: 20040161057
Abstract: A method for estimating a transmitted signal. A wireless signal is received that includes a pilot channel and at least one other channel. The wireless signal is processed using a rake receiver front end to provide a plurality of front end output. Channel estimation is performed on the plurality of front end outputs to obtain a plurality of channel estimates. The channel estimates are then used to combine the plurality of front end outputs into a combined signal. A transmitted signal is estimated using an equalizer and the combined signal. The equalizer includes a filter with a plurality of taps that are adapted through use of an adaptive algorithm that uses an estimated pilot estimated from the received wireless signal. The pilot channel is transmitted in the wireless signal that included the at least one other channel. The estimated pilot is extracted and provided to the adaptive algorithm.
