  • Patent number: 6825978
Abstract: A light emission microscope includes a low temperature detector array which receives light through a room temperature projection optics system from a device under test. A cold aperture including a movable cold stop and a cryogenic filter absorbs unwanted thermal radiation emitted by the optics system. In one embodiment, a high resolution CCD camera can be used with the low temperature detector array and camera with a computer-controlled mirror providing emitted light to both cameras.

  • Patent number: 6825971
Abstract: A technique for wave-mixing bulk frequency conversion in a network comprising one or more channels is disclosed that enables cost-effective wavelength-conversion. In one particular exemplary embodiment, the technique may be realized by a new class of multi-log wave-mixing-cross-connects that are based on arbitrary b×b space-switching elements, where b>2. In such cross-connects, for any light-path, the worst case number of cascaded frequency-conversions is O(logb(FW)), F being the number of fibers. One benefit of the new design may be maximized when W=O(F), b=O(F), and the worst-case number of cascaded conversions is O(1).

  • Publication number: 20040237012
Abstract: Generating a test sequence includes receiving a circuit representation describing a circuit, and a fault associated with the circuit representation. A miter circuit model associated with a good circuit model and a faulty circuit model is established according to the circuit representation. A satisfiability problem corresponding to the fault as associated with the miter circuit model is also established. Whether the satisfiability problem is satisfiable is determined. If the satisfiability problem is satisfiable, a test sequence is generated for the fault as associated with the miter circuit model.

  • Publication number: 20040237083
Abstract: Described is a mechanism for enabling an application operating as a web application to transition to a client-side application without impacting a user's interaction with the application. The progressive installation transitions through three states: a start-up state, a demand state, and an install state. During the start-up state, a subset of components associated with the application is downloaded and stored in a local data store. The subset is sufficient to allow execution of the application in a manner similar to a web application. During the demand state, additional resources associated with the application are downloaded. Transitioning from the demand state to the installed state occurs without impacting a user's interaction with the application. The transition may occur autonomously based on the number of additional resources stored in the local data store or upon an external trigger.

  • Publication number: 20040237057
Abstract: Performing latch mapping includes receiving an initial circuit model representing a first circuit and a second circuit and generating an initial latch mapping for the initial circuit model. The following is repeated until a next latch mapping is at least similar to a current latch mapping to yield a final latch mapping. A current circuit model is constructed according to a previous circuit model. Current potentially equivalent node sets associated with the current circuit model are established in accordance with previous potentially equivalent node sets, where each potentially equivalent node set includes potentially equivalent nodes. Equivalence of the current potentially equivalent node sets is validated, and a current latch mapping is verified in accordance with the validated current potentially equivalent node sets to generate a next latch mapping. The final latch mapping is reported.

  • Patent number: 6823491
Abstract: A system and method for dynamically integrating a site specific search engine. In one embodiment, a hidden HTML tag is used on web pages to identify the site specific search engine for the web site. When a user requests a site specific search engine from the user's web browser, the HTML tag is located and the corresponding web page containing the site specific search engine is opened. In another embodiment, if the HTML tag identifying the site specific search engine is not found, an analysis of the web site's root node is made to identify a site specific search engine. If a site specific search engine is identified through the analysis, the search engine web page is opened. In yet another embodiment, if the site specific search engine is not found through either a hidden HTML tag or by analyzing the web site's root node, a generic site specific search routine is invoked.

  • Publication number: 20040229627
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a communication system provide for fast link setup for a mobile station by transmitting a request message, transmitting an assignment message from the base station to the mobile station, and transmitting a notification message from the base station to a base station controller. The mobile station transmits an indication message to the base station controller indicating a successful completion of acquiring the data packet channel. The base station controller processes the indication message for message integrity and security feature. • Patent number: 6818946
Abstract: A MOSFET device (50) has a trench (60) extending from a major surface (56) of the device (50). Within the trench (60), a gate structure (62) is formed where the top surface (64) is below the major surface (56). • Publication number: 20040225634
Abstract: A system and method for operating a storage library. The system comprises a management server, a media agent connected to the management server, a library connected to the media agent and a database connected to the management server. The management server controls the media agent to monitor for the addition or removal of a piece of media in the library. When the media agent determines that the piece of media has been added to the library or removed from the library, the media agent causes the library to read a media label stored as data on the piece of media, the media label including an identifier identifying the piece of media. When a backup or restore is performed, the system checks the media label to ensure that the correct media is being used. Inventory procedures are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20040224504
Abstract: An apparatus and method for plasma enhanced monolayer (PEM) processing, wherein excited species from a non-condensable gas plasma are delivered to a substrate surface during the reaction of a chemical precursor with a previously chemisorbed monolayer on the substrate surface; the excited species lower the activation energy of the monolayer formation reaction and also modulate the film properties. In preferred embodiments a process reactor has linear injectors arranged diametrically above a substrate and reactive gases are sequentially injected onto the substrate surface while it is being rotated. The reactor can be operated in pulse precursor and pulsed plasma, constant precursor and constant plasma modes, or a combination thereof.
