  • Publication number: 20090077661
Abstract: A method for improving the reliability of host data stored on Fibre Channel attached storage subsystems by performing end-to-end data integrity checks. When a read or write operation is initiated, an initial checksum for data in the read/write operation is generated and associated with the data, wherein the association exists through a plurality of layers of software and attached storage subsystems. The initial checksum is passed with the data in the read/write path. When a layer of software in the read/write path receives the initial checksum and data, the layer performs an integrity check of the data, which includes generating another checksum and comparing it to the initial checksum. If the checksums do not match, the read/write operation fails and the error is logged. If the checksums match, the integrity check is repeated through each layer in the read/write path to enable detecting data corruption at the point of source.

  • Publication number: 20090074002
Abstract: An apparatus and system provide an optimizing content processing throughput for systems on chips (“SoCs”). A Packet Processing Memory Controller Cache (“PPMCC”) on an SoC according to an embodiment of the present invention may enable the SoC to store content packets within the SoC, thus eliminating the need to write to and read from external memory. Additionally, by utilizing Quality of Service (“QoS”) tags for the content packets received by the SoC, PPMCC may enforce a unique caching policy which optimizing content processing. Finally, an Address Translation Lookup Table (“ATLT”) on the SoC enables packet processing controllers on the SoC to route packets directly amongst themselves by identifying the source and destination of each content packet.

  • Publication number: 20090058480
Abstract: A serial interface interacting with a transmission pad system circuitry wherein a differential impedance is reckoned across the system voltage source, includes a scheme for controlling transmitter rise-fall transitions (to selectively speed up or slow down transitions) without requiring additional timing controls or affecting reflection coefficient of the transmitter port. The scheme uses at least one pre-charged capacitor, e.g., PMOS capacitor, interacting with the transmitter pad and connected through resistances or otherwise across the differential impedance with a switch. A modified scheme uses first and second parallely connected PMOS capacitors connectable with the transmission pad by switches, which may be NMOS switches. The scheme may be used in a MIPI D-PHY compliant DSI transmitter operating at, for e.g. 800 Mbps, and low signal common-modes. The scheme controls signal transition times of high speed circuitry including transmitters and uses a DATA signal which is already available to the circuitry.

  • Patent number: 7497248
Abstract: A cooling device including a core with a plurality of twin fins connected with a plurality of grooves on the core is disclosed. Each twin fin includes a root and a pair of vanes extending from the root. Each root is connected with one of the grooves to mount the twin fins to the core. The core can be made from a high thermal conductivity material such as copper (Cu) or graphite so that heat conducted from a component in thermal communication with the core can be conducted upward into the core and spread out through the twin fins thereby reducing heat flux concentration. Heat dissipation from the core can be increased by increasing the number of grooves and twin fins, by increasing an area of the twin fins, and by reducing a thermal resistance of a means for connecting the root of the twin fins with the grooves.

  • Publication number: 20090055834
Abstract: An interactive virtualization management system provides an assessment of proposed or existing virtualization schemes. A Virtual Technology Overhead Profile (VTOP) is created for each of a variety of configurations of host computer systems and virtualization technologies by measuring the overhead experienced under a variety of conditions. The multi-variate overhead profile corresponding to each target configuration being evaluated is used by the virtualization management system to determine the overhead that is to be expected on the target system, based on the particular set of conditions at the target system. Based on these overhead estimates, and the parameters of the jobs assigned to each virtual machine on each target system, the resultant overall performance of the target system for meeting the performance criteria of each of the jobs in each virtual machine is determined, and over-committed virtual machines and computer systems are identified.

  • Publication number: 20090055810
Abstract: The method and system disclosed herein is for compiling and executing a plurality of software codes. The requests from users are parsed and loaded using a set of child processes or a thread pool. A request handler is used to handle the compilation and execution requests from the user. Requests from a plurality of client processes are listed to compile and execute the solution codes from a plurality of users. A set of common libraries and system libraries for each compilation request are stored in a memory and loaded on to a compiler. Using the stored common libraries and system libraries, an executable binary format of the software code is created by the compiler. The executable binary format of the software code is loaded on a file system for further executions.

  • Patent number: 7495952
Abstract: A solid-state semiconductor device operable without loss arising from junction-to junction (e.g., source-to-drain) leakage current includes a movable MEMS switch or relay armature structure carrying at least one electrical contact corresponding to a semiconductor device junction. The switch or relay armature is movable from a first position corresponding to a first switch state to a second position corresponding to a second switch state. The semiconductor device also includes an actuation circuit configured to act on the cantilever switch, changing the switch from a first contact-conducting state to a second non-contact-conducting state by physically separating the switch's electrical contact from the semiconductor device junction, thus eliminating the conductive path for leakage current losses.

  • Patent number: 7495673
Abstract: A color display called a Resource Tepee depicting, at a glance, resource utilization across functions and over levels of an organization. The display is constructed by starting with a resource utilization matrix whose elements are resources utilized at each combination of function and level. A matrix of co-ordinates is computed using the resource utilization matrix. This matrix contains the nodes of the Tepee. Boundary lines to separate the colors of the Tepee are obtained by connecting co-ordinates in each column of the matrix of co-ordinates. Colors representing distinct functions are applied to the spaces between boundary lines to obtain the Resource Tepee.

  • Patent number: 7496832
Abstract: A method and system for automatically creating a webpage using a scanned file created from a hard copy. A lookup table correlates a particular text symbol, such as a dollar sign (“$”), to a specific functionality. For example, if a chart in the hard copy has a dollar sign before values in the chart, then the lookup table associates the dollar sign with a pointer to an HTML routine (object) for creating an input box in a webpage. The HTML routines can be used to create new webpages or to modify existing webpages.

  • Publication number: 20090047338
Abstract: The present invention is directed to methods of treating flavivirus mediated diseases using siRNAs. The invention is based upon our findings in a mouse model that siRNAs directed against sequences conserved among multiple flaviviruses prevents and treats flavivirus infections. Accordingly, the present invention provides an isolated siRNA comprising a sense RNA and an antisense RNA strand or a single strand. The sense and the antisense RNA strands, or the single RNA strand, form an RNA duplex, and wherein the RNA strand comprises a nucleotide sequence identical to a target sequence of about 15 to about 30 contiguous nucleotides in flavivirus mRNA or mutant or variant thereof.
