Abstract: Synchronous analog to digital conversion including providing a voltage analog to digital converter and a current analog to digital converter, synchronizing the converters, providing a signal conditioning circuit associated with the input of each converter, providing a current input to one of the signal conditioning currents and a voltage input to the other; and processing the inputs with gains differing by substantially an order of magnitude with substantially balanced time delays; and providing those conditioned inputs to the associated converters.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for electrochemically determining an analyte concentration value in a physiological sample are disclosed. The methods include using a test strip in which two time-current transients are measured by a meter electrically connected to an electrochemical test strip. Integrative current values are derived from the time-current transients and used in the calculation of analyte concentration.

Abstract: A loom includes a first fork, having a first interchangeable anchor point for a cord; a second fork, having a second interchangeable anchor point for the cord; and a base to retain the first fork and the second fork at generally perpendicular angles to the base. The first and second anchor points are positioned so as to provide an area for a user's hands to be inserted underneath the cord and between the forks to allow the hands to manipulate jewelry items into the cord. A tall fork and a short fork support the attachment points perpendicular to the base. The interchangeable anchor points are selectable between dowels and threaded warp bolts.

Abstract: A composition useful for the production of transformed eukaryotic cells is described. The composition comprises submucosal tissue and a nucleic acid sequence. The nucleic acid sequence is typically recombinant DNA including gene(s) encoding for one or more biofunctional proteins. The submucosal tissue component of the present composition comprises the tunica submucosa of vertebrate intestine delaminated from the tunica muscularis and at least the luminal portion of the tunica mucosa. Injection or implantation of the composition into a host induces the formation of transformed cells capable of expressing gene(s) encoded by the nucleic acid sequence.

Abstract: Terminals of a device under test are connected to corresponding contact pads or leads by a series of electrically conductive contacts. Each terminal testing connects with both a “force” contact and a “sense” contact. In one embodiment, the sense contact partially or completely laterally surrounds the force contact, so that it need not have its own resiliency. The sense contact has a forked end with prongs that extend to opposite sides of the force contact. Alternatively, the sense contact surrounds the force contact and slides laterally to match a lateral translation component of a lateral cross-section of the force contact during longitudinal compression of the force contact. Alternatively, the sense contact includes rods that have ends on opposite sides of the force contact, and extend parallel.

Abstract: Methods for managing privacy settings for a social network using an electronic computing device are presented including: causing the electronic computing device to receive a triggering event on the social network; and causing the electronic computing device to determine a number of privacy indices in response to the triggering event, where the number of privacy indices correspond with at least one target user, where the number of privacy indices are normalized from a summation of a number of privacy scores, where the number of privacy scores are each derived from a sum of attribute scores, and where the sum of attribute scores are each derived from a weighted sensitivity value of an attribute and a user relationship distance value of a user and the target user.

Abstract: An implantable vascular access device includes a housing having an inlet, an outlet, an interior chamber defined therein and a valve positioned between the inlet and the interior chamber. The valve is subcutaneously manipulated between an open position, in which fluid can flow between the inlet and the interior chamber, and a closed position in which the valve occludes the inlet. The device may include any combination of multiple inlets, outlets and/or interior chambers. In the preferred embodiment, the housing includes two separate interior chambers suitable for the inflow and outflow of a typical hemodialysis procedure. A method for accessing a vascular structure is provided which includes the steps of subcutaneously implanting the device connecting one end of a cannula to the outlet of the device and another end of the cannula to a selected vascular structure. The valve of the device is manipulated to permit fluid communication between the inlet of the device and the selected vascular structure.

Abstract: An integrated circuit including at least one internal operational block, which includes test control circuitry for initiating a test mode and testing circuitry for verifying an operation of the integrated circuit under a more stringent condition in the test mode as compared to a condition in another operating mode such that proper operation of the integrated circuit is assured in the another operating mode. Pin control circuitry selectively outputs a test signal from a selected pin in the test mode indicative of the operation of the internal block, wherein the selected pin is utilized for exchanging another signal when the integrated circuit is in the another operating mode.

Abstract: Characteristic normalization (or leveling) is a process that yields consistent and equitable characteristic definitions across multiple sources of credit information. This leveling ensures that when the same data is present for multiple credit sources, for example two or more credit reporting agencies, it is interpreted in the same manner, acknowledging that differences in the data itself may still be present.

Abstract: The terminals of a device under test are temporarily electrically connected to corresponding contact pads on a load board by a series of electrically conductive pin pairs. The pin pairs are held in place by an interposer membrane that includes a top contact plate facing the device under test, a bottom contact plate facing the load board, and a vertically resilient, non-conductive member between the top and bottom contact plates. Each pin pair includes a top and bottom pin, which extend beyond the top and bottom contact plates, respectively, toward the device under test and the load board, respectively. The top and bottom pins contact each other at an interface that is inclined with respect to the membrane surface normal. When compressed longitudinally, the pins translate toward each other by sliding along the interface. The sliding is largely longitudinal, with a small and desirable lateral component determined by the inclination of the interface.

Abstract: Systems and methods using intelligent barcodes for processing mail, packages, or other items in transport are provided. Systems and methods allowing end-to-end visibility of a mail stream by uniquely identifying and tracking mail pieces are also provided. Systems and methods include the use of standardized intelligent barcodes on mail pieces, a seamless process for mail acceptance, continuous mail piece tracking, and feedback on mail quality in real time. In one embodiment, systems and methods using intelligent barcodes allow a mailing service to provide enhanced acceptance, sorting, tracking, address correction, forwarding, and delivery services. In another embodiment, systems and methods using intelligent barcodes allow a mailing service to identify a mail piece as undeliverable-as-addressed (UAA) and determine a final disposition for the mail piece.

Abstract: A lifting mechanism for a storage bin is positioned in a cabinet having a countertop. The lifting mechanism has a base adapted to be supported in the cabinet, a moveable member operably connected to the base, a support member connected to the moveable member, and a storage bin supported by the support member. The moveable member is moveable between a first position, wherein the storage bin is adapted to be positioned within the cabinet, and a second position wherein the storage bin is raised such that the storage bin is adapted to be positioned out of the cabinet. When the storage bin is raised, a top of the storage bin is adapted to be positioned proximate the countertop.

Abstract: Compositions and methods effective for eliciting an immune response for preventing or reducing infection or improving clinical outcomes caused by Bacillus anthracis are provided. The compositions include a naturally occurring or synthetic protein, peptide, or protein fragment containing all or an active portion of an antigenic epitope associated with anthrax toxin proteins optionally combined with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The preferred antigenic epitopes correspond to immunogenic regions of protective antigen, lethal factor or edema factor, either individually or in combination. In addition, methods and compositions containing antibodies for reducing the effects of anthrax toxins are described. The methods involve administering to a human or animal the compositions described herein in a dosage sufficient to elicit an immune response or treat the anthrax infection.

Abstract: A lightweight vanity cart with a mirror mounted on the top that can pivot from a closed to an open position. The mirror can be illuminated with a light strip. The vanity cart provides receptacles, drawers and racks for organizing and storing hair styling tools and personal care items, including cosmetics, hair styling products, lotions, cleansers, applicators, brushes, etc. The vanity cart, which is mounted on wheels, is easily moved from place to place. It provides electrical receptacles for plugging in the cords of electrical styling tools. A master power cord, which supplies electricity to the receptacles, is plugged into a wall receptacle.

Abstract: Sustained release dosage forms for twice daily oral dosing to a human patient for providing relief from pain are provided. The sustained release dosage form comprises an immediate release component and a sustained release component, wherein the immediate release component and the sustained release component collectively contain a therapeutically effective amount of an opioid analgesic and a therapeutically effective amount of nonopioid analgesic. In a preferred embodiment, the nonopioid analgesic is acetaminophen and the opioid analgesic is hydrocodone and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, and in preferred embodiments, the pharmaceutically acceptable salt is bitartrate. The dosage forms produce plasma profiles in a patient characterized by a Cmax for hydrocodone of between about 0.6 ng/mL/mg to about 1.4 ng/mL/mg and an AUC for hydrocodone of between about 9.1 ng*hr/mL/mg to about 19.9 ng*hr/mL/mg (per mg hydrocodone bitartrate administered) and a Cmax for acetaminophen of between about 2.

In an exemplary embodiment, the following steps for carrying out the game, the host selecting from a universe of people, a finite number of players, inviting the finite number of players to a social event, creating an event, which will be generally pleasing to the players; assigning a card to player, each card relative to a pre-determined topic; a first guest reading his/her card aloud, inviting social intercourse based upon the card which is read aloud; a second guest reading his/her card aloud; and repeating the inviting social intercourse and reading steps until each of the players at the event has had the opportunity to read and receive social intercourse based upon their card, whereby upon introduction of each player and social discourse is initiated and the ice is broken so that normal social intercourse can begin.
