Abstract: Systems and methods for eye image segmentation and image quality estimation are disclosed. In one aspect, after receiving an eye image, a device such as an augmented reality device can process the eye image using a convolutional neural network with a merged architecture to generate both a segmented eye image and a quality estimation of the eye image. The segmented eye image can include a background region, a sclera region, an iris region, or a pupil region. In another aspect, a convolutional neural network with a merged architecture can be trained for eye image segmentation and image quality estimation. In yet another aspect, the device can use the segmented eye image to determine eye contours such as a pupil contour and an iris contour. The device can use the eye contours to create a polar image of the iris region for computing an iris code or biometric authentication.

  • Patent number: 9930034
Abstract: A mobile device can receive, from an application installed on a wearable device, an authentication query. Based upon the authentication query, an application installed on the mobile device can be determined to have been authenticated. In response to determining that the application installed on the mobile device has been authenticated, a temporary password can be generated at the mobile device and converted into a vibration pattern. The vibration pattern can be vibrated at the mobile device. The temporary password sent from the mobile device can be compared with user input received via a tap interface on the wearable device. In response to determining that the user input corresponds to the temporary password, the application installed on the wearable device can be authenticated based on authentication parameters of the corresponding application on the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 9928058
Abstract: A classloader executing in an execution environment, such as a JAVA virtual machine or a software container, may be configured to generate class usage data describing the historical usage of classes by applications in the execution environment. Based upon the class usage data, one or more classes may be pre-loaded into a cache prior to receiving a request from an application to load the classes. If an application subsequently requests a class, the request may be satisfied using the class stored in the cache rather than by loading the class at the time the request is received. A probabilistic data structure, such as a Bloom filter, might also be utilized to determine whether a classloader can possibly load a requested class. Only if the classloader can possibly load the requested class will a search be made for the requested class in a classpath associated with the classloader.

  • Publication number: 20180083546
Abstract: Systems and methods for operating improved flyback converters are disclosed, in which leakage energy is returned to the input power source rather than to the output load, while still achieving zero voltage switching (i.e., ZVS) operation. In some embodiments, the improved converters may transfer the energy stored in the leakage inductance to a snubber capacitors) at the instant of turning off of the control switch. Further, the improved converter embodiments may also retain the stored energy in the snubber capacitor(s) when the power is being delivered to the load by the secondary circuits. The improved converter embodiments may start the transfer of leakage energy stored in the snubber capacitor(s) to the primary winding once the energy stored in the transformer is delivered to the load. Finally, the improved converter embodiments may intelligently control their active clamp switches such that all leakage inductance energy is returned to the input source.
