  • Patent number: 11484719
Abstract: An implantable medical device is configured determine a numerical value of a variable that is monitored by the implantable medical device and convert the numerical value to a data sequence of modulated electrical stimulation rate intervals. The implantable medical device delivers electrical stimulation pulses according to the data sequence of modulated stimulation rate intervals to cause a modulated rate of activation of excitable tissue of a patient corresponding to the modulated stimulation rate intervals. The modulated rate of activation is detectable by a rate monitor for demodulation to the numerical value of the monitored variable data value. In some examples, the implantable medical device is a pacemaker delivering cardiac pacing pulses according to modulated pacing rate intervals to cause a modulated heart rate of the patient detectable by a heart rate monitor for demodulation to the numerical value of the monitored variable.

  • Patent number: 11486706
Abstract: A method for reducing or eliminating bias instability in a SBS laser gyroscope comprises introducing a first pump signal propagating in a CW direction, and a second pump signal propagating in a CCW direction in a resonator; generating a CCW first-order SBS signal and a CW first-order SBS signal in the resonator; increasing a power level of the first pump signal above a threshold level such that the CW first-order SBS signal generates a CCW second-order SBS signal; and increasing a power level of the second pump signal above the threshold level such that the CCW first-order SBS signal generates a CW second-order SBS signal. Above the threshold level, an intensity fluctuation of the first-order SBS signals disappear and their DC power are clamped at substantially the same power level. A Kerr effect bias instability of the SBS laser gyroscope is reduced or eliminated by the clamped first-order SBS signals.

  • Patent number: 11486356
Abstract: A system and method are provided for controlling a wind turbine. Accordingly, a controller of the wind turbine detects a loss of traction of the slip coupling between a generator and a rotor of the drivetrain of the wind turbine. In response to detecting the loss of traction, the controller overrides a generator torque setpoint to alter a rotational speed of the generator. In response to the altered rotational speed of the generator, the traction of the slip coupling is increased. Increasing the traction of the slip coupling facilitates an application of generator torque to the drivetrain of the wind turbine.

  • Patent number: 11484095
Abstract: A device configured to surround a portion of a foot-receiving cavity at a heel region of an article of footwear comprises a control bar having a center segment, a first side arm extending from the center segment, and a second side arm spaced from the first side arm and extending from the center segment. The control bar may include a series of slats. A base supports the control bar and is connected to the first side arm and the second side arm. The control bar is biased to an unstressed position with the center segment a first distance from the base, and elastically bends under an applied force to a loaded position with the center segment a second distance from the base less than the first distance. The device stores potential energy that returns the control bar to the unloaded position upon removal of the applied load.

  • Publication number: 20220339776
Abstract: A system and method for hitching, using a swivel pin, a tractor with a drawbar and a towable implement comprise a handheld tool for inserting the swivel pin through a pin-receiving portion of the drawbar and a hitch tongue of the implement when arranged in an aligned coupling configuration. The handheld tool has an upper end configured for gripping by a user and a lower end configured to removably receive the swivel pin. Furthermore, the handheld tool is configured to extend from the operator cab of the tractor to the pin-receiving portion of the drawbar of the tractor so that the handheld tool is usable by the operator to hitch the tractor and the implement with the swivel pin without leaving the operator cab. A novel swivel pin with arms for mating engagement with a receptacle in the lower end of the tool enables the pin to be rotationally releasably secured therein.

  • Publication number: 20220341063
Abstract: The invention relates to methods for providing crimped bast fibers which may include providing an input of bast fibers, adjusting the moisture content of the bast fibers to be in the range of about 10% to about 40% by weight to form a fiber mat, and contacting the fiber mat with a pair of heated crimping rolls to provide crimped bast fibers having a crimp of about 1 to about 10 crimps per centimeter. The invention further provides for a nonwoven fabric comprising at least 5% of the crimped bast fibers. The crimping of the bast fibers in these nonwoven fabrics is beneficial to forming a drylaid, airlaid or wetlaid nonwoven fabric that has desirable properties related to performance in a variety of nonwoven product applications.

  • Patent number: 11480153
Abstract: A system and method are provided for controlling a wind turbine to protect the wind turbine from anomalous operations. Accordingly, in response to receiving data indicative of an anomalous operational event of the wind turbine, the controller initiates an enhanced braking mode for the wind turbine. The enhanced braking mode is characterized by operating the generator at a torque setpoint that generates maximum available torque for a given set of operating conditions. Additionally, the torque setpoint is in excess of a nominal torque limit for the generator.

  • Patent number: 11482295
Abstract: A Magnetoresistive Random Access Memory (MRAM) device is tested using a high repetition test that detects one or more low-likelihood failures, such as a failure to properly switch between a high or low resistive state. A series of write and read operations are performed for a large number of test cycles at high frequency. A first tier measurement is used to determine if a switching failure occurred, e.g. by comparing the read signal to target level(s) after each operation. When a switching failure event is detected, a second tier measurement is used to measure and store switching performance parameters, for example, the value of the read signal, while the MRAM device is in a failure state. The high frequency testing may be paused during the second tier measurements. Additional performance parameters may be measured during the second tier measurements.
