  • Publication number: 20200036582
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for cross-cloud hybrid services upgradability. In one embodiment, a virtual network operations center (NOC) with a centralized view of distributed, cross-cloud hybridity manager installations is responsible for continuously gathering information on the environments of on-premise and cloud computing systems, analyzing the gathered information to identify upgrades to hybridity manager instances that are compatible with dependent components and paired hybridity manager(s), and publishing notifications of compatible upgrades to the hybridity manager instances based on the analysis. The publishing of upgrade notifications by the virtual NOC is a server-initiated upgrade that is coordinated across hybrid cloud computing system sites, in contrast to traditional isolated client-initiated upgrades. In addition, the virtual NOC may revoke previous notifications if the associated upgrade versions are no longer compatible with the dependent components and/or the paired hybridity managers.

  • Publication number: 20200036581
Abstract: Techniques disclosed herein manage and resolve incidents in hybridity manager applications, without the back-and-forth manual steps of the traditional software support lifecycle. In one embodiment, a virtual network operations center (NOC) with a centralized view of distributed, cross-cloud hybridity manager installations is responsible for tracking incident reports relating to hybridity managers and associated bugs, and the virtual NOC automatically publishes notifications of upgrade builds that fix the tracked bugs to the appropriate hybridity managers. When the same bug is encountered again with another hybridity manager instance, the virtual NOC may also publish an upgrade notification to the other hybridity manager instance, without requiring a support ticket to be filed, etc.

  • Publication number: 20190373490
Abstract: A source device can transmit initial streaming content to a playback device (e.g., wireless ear buds) using first settings and measure playback performance of the content at a plurality of times. The measured performance values can relate to a quality of communication of the initial streaming content between the source device and the playback device, e.g., relating to packet loss, retransmission rates and patterns, fluctuations in a playback (jitter) buffer, and/or other values. The measured performance values can be used to determine one or more second settings to be used for a playback of subsequent streaming content between the source device and the playback device. In this manner, each source device can account for variations in communication behavior specific to a user (e.g., due to differences in body type as electromagnetic waves travel through the body when a source device is in a pocket).

  • Publication number: 20190373032
Abstract: A source device executing the application can transmit the streaming content to the playback device. The size of the buffer can be changed during the playback of streaming content. To perform the change seamlessly, embodiments can cause the application to provide the streaming content at an increased or decreased rate, depending on how the size of the playback buffer is to be changed. The new buffer size (i.e., smaller or larger amount) can provide improved playback of the streaming content, e.g., based on a latency-reliability tradeoff as determined using various factors (e.g., quality of connection between the devices). The changed rate for providing the streaming content can be achieved by slowing down or speeding up a clock signal that is provided to the application.

  • Publication number: 20190364099
Abstract: A hybrid cloud computing system having a private data center and a public cloud computing system is discussed. The private data center is managed by a first organization. The public cloud computing system is managed by a second organization, and the first organization is a tenant in the public cloud computing system. The hybrid cloud computing system is configured to generate a mapping that contextualizes virtual objects migrated between the private data center and the public cloud computing system based on the objects' location. Such a mapping is maintained to expose the true hybridity of the hybrid cloud rather than present two distinct views of a private data center (or private cloud) and a public cloud.

  • Patent number: 10382532
Abstract: A method for managing an application executing in a computing system is disclosed as including a private cloud operated by a first organization and a multi-tenant public cloud of which the first organization is one of the tenants. The method comprises instantiating a first virtual object in the private cloud and instantiating a second virtual object in the public cloud for executing the application cooperatively with the first virtual object. Mapping associated with the first virtual object is generated, wherein the mapping comprises a first identifier having a context of the private cloud and a second identifier having a context of the public cloud. The method further includes detecting migration of the first or second virtual object such that both of the first and second virtual objects are instantiated in a single one of the private and public clouds and updating the mapping to reflect the migration.

  • Patent number: 10372720
Abstract: Techniques for performing a fuzzy match of data from multiple sources are provided. In one technique, an email address of a sender of an email message is extracted from the email message. The email address is used to retrieve, from a first data source, first entity data about one or more entities, such as users. The first entity data is used to retrieve, from a second data source, second entity data about one or more entities. First data that pertains to the sender and that originates from the first data source is combined with second data that pertains to the sender and that originates from the second data source to generate sender data. The sender data is then presented via an email client that displays the email message.

  • Patent number: 10282606
Abstract: In an example embodiment, a web page is obtained using a web page address stored in a first record and is parsed to extract one or more images from the web page along with a first plurality of features for each of the one or more images from the web page. Information about each image of the web page and the extracted first plurality of features for the web page are input into a supervised machine learning classifier to calculate a logo confidence score for each image of the web page, the logo confidence score indicating the probability that the image is an organization logo. In response to a particular image in the web page having a logo confidence score transgressing a first threshold, the particular image is injected into an organization logo field of the first record.

  • Publication number: 20190102143
Abstract: A host device communicating with a plurality of accessory devices transmits audio data packets via a broadcast channel to the plurality of accessory devices. When one of the plurality of accessory devices determines an audio data packet has not been received, the accessory device sends a negative-acknowledgement signal (NACK) via a unicast channel. The NACK indicates that the at least one of the accessory devices did not receive at least one audio data packet. The host device retransmits the at least one audio data packet indicated as not being received via the broadcast channel to the plurality of accessory devices. Other aspects are also described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 10242258
Abstract: In an example embodiment, a fuzzy join operation is performed by, for each pair of records, evaluating a first plurality of features for both records in the pair of records by calculating term frequency-inverse term frequency (TF-IDF) for each token of each field relevant to each feature and based on the calculated TF-IDF for each token of each field relevant to each feature, computing a similarity score based on the similarity function by adding a weight assigned to the TF-IDF for any token that appears in both records. Then a graph data structure is created, having a node for each record in the plurality of records and edges between each of the nodes, except, for each record pair having a similarity score that does not transgress a first threshold, causing no edge between the nodes for the record pair to appear in the graph data structure.
