  • Publication number: 20180357313
Abstract: A first connection state may be entered on a computing device. While the computing device is in the first connection state, actions taken on a playlist on the computing device may be applied to the playlist and not applied to a playback queue associated with a zone. An input may be received via the computing device, indicating a selection of the zone. In response to receiving the input, a second connection state may be entered. Entering the second connection state may comprise establishing a connected state between the computing device and the one or more playback devices. While the connected state is established, one or more actions taken on the playlist on the computing device may be applied to the playlist and transmitted, in a message to the zone over a network. The one or more actions may be one or more corresponding actions applied to the playback queue.

  • Publication number: 20180349499
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes by one or more computing machines: receiving a search query from a user, generating a normalized query based on the search query, identifying multiple objects matching the search query, and calculating an engagement score for each object. The engagement score is based on real-time counters and batch counters. Each counter includes: a key listing the object, normalized query, and one of multiple types of user interactions; and a value indicating a number of user interactions with the object performed in response to search queries normalizing to the normalized query. The value for real-time and batch counters indicates user interactions during first and second threshold windows of time, respectively. The method continues with sending, to the user, a search-results interface including results corresponding to the identified objects above a threshold engagement score, and updating the real-time counters based on user interactions with the search results.

  • Publication number: 20180293683
Abstract: A network is crawled using a trained learning model to identify a set of secondary-source documents related to an event. A hub page from the set of secondary-source documents is identified that includes a link predicted to link to a new relevant secondary-source document. The new document is added to the set of secondary-source documents. Information is extracted from the set of secondary-source documents. Feedback is received indicative of a relevancy level for the extracted information as applied to the event. Each document is classified into one or more categories related to the event, based on the extracted information and the received feedback information. A learning model is trained based on the received feedback.

  • Patent number: 10091087
Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for load balance resources amongst computing nodes. Various embodiments of the present technology can be used to, prior to assigning a first data shard included in a first cluster of data shards as a leader of the first cluster of data shards, determine whether a first computing node storing the first data shard also stores a second data shard designated as a leader of a second cluster of data shards, yielding a determination, and when the determination indicates that the first computing node stores the second data shard designated as the leader of the second cluster of data shards, designate the first data shard as non-electable to be the leader of the first cluster of data shards and electing an alternate data shard included in the first cluster of data shards as the leader of the first cluster of data shards.

  • Publication number: 20180275954
Abstract: Example implementations may involve generating and displaying media items contexts related to media playback systems in social media posts. In an example, a computing system of a social media service receives data representing a playback history of one or more particular audio tracks that were played back at a media playback system, and a particular account of the social media service that is registered with the media playback system. In response, the computing system generates a social-media post for the particular account of the social media service, the social-media post including that an indication of the one or more particular audio tracks that were played back at the media playback system during the playback session. The computing system displays the generated social-media post in respective feeds of multiple accounts of the social media service that are connected to the particular account within a social network of the social media service.

  • Publication number: 20180270244
Abstract: A secure chain of data blocks is maintained at a given computing node, wherein the given computing node is part of a set of computing nodes in a distributed network of computing nodes, and wherein each of the set of computing nodes maintains the secure chain of data blocks. The secure chain of data blocks maintained at each computing node comprises one or more data blocks that respectively represent one or more transactions associated with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). At least one data block is added to the secure chain of data blocks maintained at the given computing node in response to determining that transaction data associated with the at least one data block is valid.

  • Patent number: 10055491
Abstract: Embodiments are provided for querying a media server for media content based on user-selected metadata associated with first media while the first media is being experienced by a user. In one embodiment, at least one metadata associated with the first media may be displayed for the user to review while the first media is being experienced by the user. The user may then select a displayed metadata to initiate a search for media content based on the selected metadata. The search for media content may be performed by querying a media server associated with a selection of media content services. The user may then review the results of the media query, select media content from the results, and initiate further action, such as adding the media content to a digital repository, or purchasing the media content.

  • Patent number: 10001967
Abstract: Embodiments described herein involve providing media item preferences according to a user account of a user providing the preference, rather than a user account providing the media item. When a user indicates a preference for a media item, the preference are associated with that particular user, rather than with another user whose account the media item may have been accessed and played through when the particular user indicated the preference. As a result, a media preference history associated with the account providing the media item will not be disrupted by other users indicating preferences for the media item. Further, users may build on their respective media preference histories even when listening to music provided by someone else.

  • Patent number: 10001640
Abstract: A pixel-based display device, such as an electrowetting display, includes an array of routing dummy pixels that are electrically interconnected in series, forming a conductive routing trace through the pixel area. Within the routing dummy pixel substrate, a source-drain metal layer is electrically isolated from a gate metal layer. A source metal interconnect between the source-drain metal layers of vertically adjacent routing dummy pixels electrically connects the vertically adjacent routing dummy pixels in series. The routing trace conducts a common voltage from a power supply to a common connector pad, facilitating relocation of the pad from the bottom to the top of the display. The pad and the source-drain and reflector metal layers of the routing dummy pixels have the same electric potential, ensuring that the routing dummy pixels remain in an “off” state and appear black throughout operation of the display device.
