  • Patent number: 8808316
Abstract: A device for producing anastomoses between a first hollow organ and a second hollow organ including a sheath and an adhesive applicator that can be positioned next to the sheath in order to apply an adhesive to the adhesive bonding section. A method for producing anastomoses between a first hollow organ and a second hollow organ includes folding the first hollow organ over a sheath, positioning the second hollow organ over the first hollow organ, producing a first connection between the hollow organs by applying a high frequency (RF) voltage, and producing a second connection between the hollow organs by applying a tissue adhesive.

  • Publication number: 20130035685
Abstract: A tissue fusion instrument having electrodes that are only connected in a punctiform manner to their electrode carrier such that they are electrically conducting and thus, heat-conducting. As a result, heat transfer from the electrode to the respective electrode carrier is restricted. This, on one hand, benefits the desired surgical outcome and, on the other hand, prevents parasitic heating of the surgical instrument and concomitant damage to surrounding tissue.

  • Publication number: 20120283733
Abstract: In a method suitable for tissue fusion or coagulation, after the start of treatment of the tissue, i.e., after completion of a first phase, a second phase is commenced, during which the biological tissue is treated for a certain specified process time with moderate energy input. The specification of a negative internal resistance of a supplying source enables the process in the second phase to have a treatment time that remains constant and thus avoids premature drying-out of the tissue. A sufficient and reliable bonding of the participating proteins in the moist milieu is reached.

  • Publication number: 20120245584
Abstract: A tube connector for a radio-frequency surgical device, having two end sleeves, which are each provided with an axial through channel and connected to each other by a web extending from a wall plane of the first end sleeve axially in the direction of the second end sleeve. The web being at least partially made of an electrically conductive material, and the respective end sleeves can be compressed or crimped in some regions for fixing a tube, which can be arranged in the respective through channel. Also disclosed is a handle for an RF surgical device, and to a method for connecting tubes for an RF surgical device to such a tube connector.

  • Publication number: 20120150167
Abstract: An electrosurgical instrument for minimally invasive surgery, the instrument including two gripping parts which can be brought together into a gripping direction or moved apart counter to the gripping direction. At least one gripping part includes three or more electrically conductive sections, electrically insulated relative to each other. Each electrically conductive section may be separately connected to a high frequency (RF) current generator such that each electrically conductive section can be configured in various electrical configurations by the RF current generator.

  • Publication number: 20110152862
Abstract: A device for producing anastomoses between first and second hollow organs, each having inner and outer surfaces. The device comprises a sleeve with an electrode arrangement, over which the first hollow organ is placed such that its inner surface comes to lie on a outermost surface of the sleeve, and an outer electrode arrangement, which can be brought into electrical contact with the opposing electrode arrangement carrying the second hollow organ, which is pushed over the first hollow organ. The outer electrode arrangement comprises a plurality of lamellae, configured and arranged such that, in a closed state, the lamellae form a through aperture and the inner edges of the lamellae lie against the second hollow organ and, in an open state, a gap is formed between the lamellae through which the hollow organs connected to one another can be guided outwardly out of the through aperture.

  • Publication number: 20110092970
Abstract: An electrosurgical device for coagulating and/or cutting biological tissue that includes an instrument for application of high-frequency current, an activation switch, a high-frequency generator, and a safety unit. The instrument for application of the high-frequency current includes first and second branches having respective first and second jaw parts that are connected such that they are movable relative to one another. The safety unit interrupts the current supply to electrodes of the instrument when the jaw parts assume a position relative to one another that is not suitable for coagulation by means of the high-frequency current, e.g. when the jaw parts are open. Thus, erroneous operation of the device may be prevented.

  • Publication number: 20110066150
Abstract: A bipolar clamp for high-frequency surgery, in particular for coagulating tissue, having at least two bipolar clamping parts which are movable relative to one another, defining a grasping region between an open position and a coagulation position (e.g., closed position) and having electrodes for coagulating tissue that is grasped by the clamping parts in the grasping region. The clamping parts are formed of an electrically conductive core which is surrounded by a thin-layer electrical insulation and the electrodes are arranged on the clamping parts as thin pin electrodes that protrude through the thin-layer electrical insulation into the grasping region.

  • Publication number: 20090043305
Abstract: Surgical instruments are provided for performing laparoscopic or similar minimally invasive operations, including two clamping parts, which can move towards one another and which have clamping surfaces for gripping tissue when they are closed. A cutting device has a cutting edge that, in a cutting direction, can be displaced relative to the clamping parts for cutting the gripped tissue. In such an instrument the cutting direction extends at an acute angle to the clamping surfaces when they are closed.
