  • Patent number: 9798960
Abstract: A system that identifies attributes of an item depicted in an image using artificial intelligence is provided. For example, the system may use one or more deep belief networks (DBNs) or convolution neural networks (CNNs) trained to analyze images and identify attributes in items depicted in the images. A first artificial intelligence module may analyze an image to determine a type of item depicted in the image. The system may then select a second artificial intelligence module that is associated with the type of item and use the second artificial intelligence module to identify attributes in the item depicted in the image. Identified attributes, if associated with a confidence level over a threshold value, may be provided to a user. The user may provide feedback on the accuracy of the identified attributes, which can be used to further train the first and/or second artificial intelligence modules.

  • Publication number: 20170300675
Abstract: A device may provide a login process to authenticate users prior to admittance to a computing environment. The device may also enable users to adjust various the computing environment, e.g., the language selected for communicating with the user and the user interfaces to be presented to the user, and may store such adjustments in a secured user account. However, if the user account is inaccessible to the device during the login process, the device is unable to adapt the login process to apply the user's adjustments. Instead, the device may be configured to store users' adjustments (including language selection) outside of the user accounts, and to, upon identifying the user during the login process, present login interfaces specified in the user account. Additionally, users may select different login interfaces during login, and the device may retrieve these login interfaces for selection during future login processes for the same user.

  • Patent number: 9751802
Abstract: A method of making a strengthened glass article. The method includes altering the glass structure and subsequently creating a compressive layer extending from the surface of the glass to a depth of layer. In some embodiments, the structure is altered by heat treating the glass at a temperature that is less than the annealing point of the glass, and the compressive layer is formed by ion exchange. A strengthened glass article made by the method is also provided.

  • Patent number: 9714192
Abstract: Ion exchangeable glass compositions that develop concentration profiles and stress profiles that have higher magnitudes of concentration and compressive stress profiles than those provided by the error function (erfc)-shaped compressive stress profile for similar surface concentrations of stress-inducing components such as K+ or K2O and stresses. The advantaged stress profile is the result of a glass composition that is low in K2O (or potassium) in the base glass prior to ion exchange. A glass comprising lower amounts of K+ or K2O has a stronger dependence of diffusivity on concentration, leading to a non-erfc-shaped concentration profile. Several glass compositions that contain low amounts of K+ or K2O exhibit this beneficial effect, whereas other glasses containing higher amounts of K+ or K2O do not exhibit this effect.

  • Patent number: 9710878
Abstract: Methods for preprocessing pixel data using a Direct Memory Access (DMA) engine during a data transfer of the pixel data from a first memory (e.g., a DRAM) to a second memory (e.g., a local cache) are described. The pixel data may derive from an image capturing device (e.g., a color camera or a depth camera) in which individual pixel values are not a multiple of eight bits. In some embodiments, the DMA engine may perform a variety of image processing operations on the pixel data prior to the pixel data being written into the second memory. In one example, the DMA engine may be configured to identify and label one or more pixels as being within a particular range of pixel values and/or the DMA engine may be configured to label pixels as belonging to one or more pixel groups based on their pixel values.

  • Patent number: 9690662
Abstract: A technique for operating a group of virtual machines (VMs) includes utilizing a checkpoint procedure to maintain secondary VMs to assume tasks of primary VMs within a cluster in the event of failover. On failover of a first one of the primary VMs, a first one of the secondary VMs assumes the tasks from the checkpoint immediately preceding a failover event. Each of the primary VMs is connected to receive data from remaining ones of the primary VMs via an internal bus and process the data on receipt. Checkpoints for the primary VMs are synchronized. For each of the primary VMs, release to the external bus of data generated on the basis of received internal bus data is prevented until a subsequent checkpoint has occurred. On failover of one of the primary VMs, all of the primary VMs are directed to initiate failover to an associated one of the secondary VMs.
