Abstract: Example tiered storage systems, storage devices, and methods provide tier configuration by peer storage devices. Each tiered storage device is configured to communicate with a plurality of peer storage devices with storage device identifiers. The storage devices may query each other for performance characteristics and/or self-assigned performance tiers and organize the storage devices into a tier configuration. Each storage device, a storage controller, another system, and/or some combination may store metadata that describes the tier configuration. The tier configuration may then be used to route host data commands among the plurality of peer storage devices.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention disclose a method, computer program product, and system for utilizing a block storage device as Dynamic Random-Access Memory (DRAM) space, wherein a computer includes at least one DRAM module and at least one block storage device interfaced to the computer using a double data rate (DDR) interface. During boot up, the computer configures DRAM and block storage devices of the computer for utilization as DRAM or block storage. Then the computer determines that more DRAM space is required. Responsive to determining that more DRAM space is required, the computer transforms a block storage device into DRAM space. Once the computer determines that the transformed block storage device that is being used for DRAM space is no longer needed to be used as DRAM space, the computer transforms the block storage device back to block storage space.

Abstract: Example peer storage systems, storage devices, and methods provide peer data recovery across a peer communication channel. Peer storage devices establish peer communication channels that communicate data among the peer storage devices. A storage device may identify storage media segments from their storage medium for recovery of failed data units. A peer storage device may be identified that contains recovery data for the failed data units. The recovery data may be received over the peer communication channel and the storage media segments may be recovered using the recovery data.

Abstract: A method of installing a decompression panel assembly in an aircraft. The decompression panel assembly includes a body portion, a baffle member, and a panel member. The method includes coupling the body portion to the panel member, wherein the body portion includes a plurality of frame members defining a plurality of openings in the body portion. The method also includes coupling the baffle member to the plurality of frame members such that the baffle member removably obstructs at least one opening of the plurality of openings. The baffle member is integrally formed with the plurality of frame members and is configured for at least partial displacement from the at least one opening during a decompression event. The decompression panel assembly is then coupled between a sidewall and a floor panel of the aircraft.

Abstract: Example storage systems, storage devices, and methods provide secure transfer of data between peer storage devices using protection information. Data operation commands may be received that use a protection information data block format for transferring a target data block between peer storage devices. A local data operation may operate on the target data block in a first storage device and compare at least one protection information tag value to a first data check value. At least one destination verification protection information tag value and the target data block may be transferred to a second storage device through a peer communication channel. The destination verification protection information tag value may be compared to a destination data block protection information tag value by the second storage device. The second storage device may then execute a data operation on the target data block.

Abstract: A journal of operations persistently stores a collection of user and machine interactions with documents, concepts within documents, and relationships/mentions among such documents and concepts. A knowledge graph or other visual expression can be used to provide an interactive format for user interactions with this information, and to visually display the accumulated information in the journal of operations on user's device of choice. Such accumulations are often called aggregations or aggregates. Both human users and computer users such as automated recommendation engines, machine learning algorithms, and the like can interact with the journal of operations to facilitate computer-assisted discovery and organization of data around a topic of interest to the human user. The resulting journal of operations and aggregations of those operations such as a knowledge graph or other visual expression(s) also provides a useful medium for sharing knowledge with other users and collaborating on investigation of a topic.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are various forms of hybrid baseball bats comprising a wood shell having a radial wall and an outer radial surface profile defining a baseball bat. The wood shell having a central core with a central surface thereon extending from a distal end of the bat. The central surface being profiled with a taper that in some embodiments extends entirely through to the proximal end. A fibrous construct is housed in the central core and infiltrated with an epoxy resin. In some forms, the fibrous construct is in the form of a sleeve. Disclosed are various manufacturing techniques for manufacturing hybrid baseball bats including a low pressure bladder method, a high pressure bladder method, and a centrifugal force method.

Abstract: Example redundant array of independent disks (RAID) storage systems and methods provide rebuild of logical data groups in priority order. Storage devices are configured as a storage array for storing logical data groups distributed among the storage devices. The logical data groups are written in a configuration of RAID stripes in the storage devices. A logical group index includes a logical group map for each logical data group and identifies corresponding logical blocks. When a storage device fails, the rebuild queue is ordered based on the priority of the logical data groups and rebuild to the replacement storage device is completed in the priority order.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a combustor assembly for a gas turbine engine comprising a bulkhead wall extended generally along a radial direction relative to a combustor centerline and a mixer disposed concentric to the nozzle centerline. The bulkhead wall defines one or more openings therethrough adjacent to a combustion chamber. Each of the openings defines a nozzle centerline extended along a lengthwise direction. The mixer comprises a retaining wall extended along a radial direction relative to the nozzle centerline and coupled to the upstream side of the bulkhead wall. The mixer further comprises an annular shroud extended at least partially through the one or more openings of the bulkhead wall. The mixer defines a cooling passage through the retaining wall and the annular shroud. The cooling passage defines an inlet opening through the retaining wall and an outlet opening through the annular shroud.

Abstract: A system for refilling a resource of an agricultural system includes the agricultural system including a tank that stores the resource. The system also includes a support vehicle including a container that stores the resource, a locating system that outputs a first signal indicative of a position of the support vehicle, a transfer system that includes a resource transfer device, and a controller communicatively coupled to the locating system and the transfer system including a processor and a memory. The controller determines a target location in a field to position the support vehicle, control the support vehicle such that the support vehicle is directed toward the target location, and instruct the transfer system to activate the resource transfer device to transfer the resource from the container to the tank while the position of the agricultural system is within a threshold distance of the target location.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for simulating circuits that transmit bidirectional signals between some ports using simulators designed originally for electrical circuits and systems, that eliminate the need for different port interfaces. The system and method can be applied to simulate photonic circuits either standalone or integrated with electrical circuits and systems. In one method implemented by the system potential and flow representations, available for example in Verilog-A simulators, are used to create bidirectional signals on a single bus line to transmit optical signals. In another method implemented by the system, the system auto-configures each optical port type as left or right at runtime or during a pre-simulation initialization to allow for bidirectional signals with a single port interface.

Abstract: A user interface of an entity-centric knowledge discovery system presents an entity profile including a mix of structured and unstructured data relating to an entity. As a user refines the entity profile based on information gathered from various sources, the changing entity profile can be used as a substantially continuously updating query to search, retrieve, and rank new and pertinent information specifically relevant to the profiled entity. The platform described herein provide an active loop for refining an entity description and searching for additional information in which human input and machine-based algorithms can cooperate to more quickly build a comprehensive description of an entity of interest.

The peer storage devices activate a state indicator configured to indicate the peer operation state. The state indicator may be used to prevent a storage controller or other entity with access to the storage device, including administrative personnel, from performing an operation that may corrupt data or truncate a media operation involving peer-to-peer communications.

Abstract: Embodiments include method, systems and computer program products for aligning visual content to search term queries. In some embodiments, one or more search terms may be received. A plurality of results may be obtained using the one or more search terms on metadata associated with preprocessed visual media. A subset of frames may be selected for each of the plurality of results. A search results set may be generated by optimizing the subset of frames for each of the plurality of results. The search results set may be transmitted.

Abstract: An active noise control (ANC) system uses a proportional integral (PI) controller to produce a control signal based on feedback that comprises a combination of ambient sound and antinoise. The ANC system generates a corrected control signal based on the control signal and a configurable filtering parameter, and produces the antinoise under control of the corrected control signal such that the antinoise destructively interferes with frequencies of the ambient sound to produce the feedback. The ANC system uses a microphone to receive the feedback and provide the feedback to the PI controller.

Abstract: Methods and systems may provide for detecting a manual addition of first content to an interactive display and defining a content boundary around the first content. Additionally, a first automatic rescaling of the first content within the content boundary may be conducted in response to one or more of a manual modification of the first content or a trigger related to a characteristic of the first content. In one example, a manual reposition request is detected with respect to the first content, the first content is moved to a new position on the interactive display based on the reposition request, and a second automatic rescaling of the first content is conducted based on a state of second content that is adjacent to the new position.

Abstract: Glass-based articles that include a compresive stress layer extending from a surface of the glass-based article to a depth of compression are formed by exposing glass-based substrates to water vapor containing environments. The glas-based substrates are substantially free or free of alkali metal oxides. The methods of forming the glass-based articles may include elevated pressures and/or multiple exposures to water vapor containing environments.
