Abstract: A set of tools for removing a half turn of a coil from a slot of a dynamoelectric machine. The set of tools includes a coil cutting tool for cutting the coil, an upending tool that grips the coil at an end of the coil where the coil was cut and hydraulically or pneumatically lifts the end of the coil at least partially out of the slot, and an extraction tool that hydraulically or pneumatically grips the upended portion of the coil and pulls the coil from the slot hydraulically or pneumatically a segment at a time.

Abstract: Management of a user's continued attention to distance learning content using a general purpose computer having a central processing unit and an operating system configured to run multiple program applications concurrently. A memory stores the distance learning content. A distance learning module comprises code executable on the central processing unit, as one of the multiple program applications. The distance learning module presents the distance learning content to a user and is operable to interrupt a presentation of the distance learning content in response to prescribed events concerning another one of the multiple program applications. A method executing on a computer that an concurrently run multiple applications identifies events concerning an application other than the distance learning application, processes the identified events so as to identify a prescribed event among the identified events, and interrupts the presentation of the distance learning content in response to the prescribed event.

Abstract: In an image processing method, a first raster having a first resolution is divided into a plurality of sub-sampling cells each containing a selected number of neighboring pixels. A pixel from each of the sub-sampling cells is selected in a periodic or quasi-periodic pattern biased toward selecting a pixel position within each sub-sampling cell that is distal from a selection position within at least one neighboring sub sampling cell. The selected pixels define a second raster having a second resolution lower than the first resolution.

Abstract: A novel, remote controlled telescope flashlight is provided for use for a telescope operating in darkness. As an optical eyepiece is removed from the remote control eyepiece holder of the telescope, an automatic switch is thrown that powers the telescope flashlight. This flashlight, attached to the tripod leg of the telescope, illuminates the tripod tray where other eyepieces are stored. The automatic, instantaneous illumination makes the process of removing and replacing eyepieces faster and easier.
