  • Patent number: 10278187
Abstract: In one embodiment, a scheme is disclosed for supporting wireless access network service request capability in a user equipment (UE) device that is operable in wide area cellular network (WACN) bands as well as in wireless access network bands (e.g., GAN bands and/or UMA bands). The UE device includes capability for gaining Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity with a wireless access network node (e.g., a GAN controller (GANC) or UMA network controller (UNC)). Thereafter, the UE device is operable to initiate a registration request message towards the wireless access network node, wherein the registration request message includes at least one information element pertaining to wireless access network services required by the UE device.

  • Patent number: 10277635
Abstract: A method for operating a UE is provided. The method comprises retrieving, by the UE, an IMS transport policy comprising a set of service transport rules. The set of service transport rules may include an indication of at least one IMS service and an indication of a policy for at least one access technology associated with the at least one IMS service. The indication of the policy may indicate whether the access technology can or cannot be used to transmit data between a network element and the UE when a first IP flow for a first IMS service associated with the UE has at least one IP flow characteristic in common with a second IP flow for a second IMS service associated with the UE, or whether the access technology is preferred over another access technology for transmitting data between the network element and the UE in such circumstances.

  • Publication number: 20190110238
Abstract: In some examples, a first user equipment (UE) sends an indication to an application server that the first UE is to use a relay UE to access a network. The first UE receives, from the application server, a first identity different from a second identity of the first UE. The first UE uses the first identity to register with the network to authenticate the first UE.
