Abstract: A beverage brewer spray apparatus includes a lid, one or more dispersal members, and a skirt. The lid has obverse and converse surfaces, with at least one recessed region in the obverse surface. The dispersal members extend from the converse surface at open proximal ends. The skirt has a proximal end fixed to and extending outward from the converse surface of the lid. Each dispersal member has a sidewall and a distal end defining an interior of the dispersal member. The sidewall has apertures arranged in a distal section of the sidewall. The lid has through-holes formed between the obverse and converse surfaces, and the dispersal members are fixed to the converse surface such that the through-holes provide fluid communication from the obverse surface of the lid to the apertures through the interiors of the dispersal members. The apertures are configured to direct liquid outward from the dispersal members.

Abstract: A beverage brewing cartridge includes a base including a sidewall having first and second open ends and a cover sealed to a rim of the first open end, and a plug configured to be inserted into the second open end. The cartridge is configured to hold beverage brewing material when the plug is inserted. The cover is configured to be breached to allow pressurized liquid to enter the cartridge to brew a beverage. The plug includes weakened areas configured to open after the pressurized liquid enters the cartridge to allow the beverage to flow from the cartridge. A method of constructing the cartridge includes placing the base in a holder, inserting a portion of brewing material into the base through the second open sidewall end, tamping the brewing material in the base through the second open sidewall end, and inserting the plug into the second open sidewall end.

Abstract: An adjustable scoop includes a scoop body and a plunger. The scoop body has a cylindrical interior sidewall, a hollow interior, an open top, and an open bottom. The plunger is arranged in the interior of the scoop body such that a top surface of the plunger faces the open top. A volume of the interior of the scoop body above the plunger defines a volume of the adjustable scoop. The plunger is rotatable in the interior of the scoop body to adjust the volume of the adjustable scoop. The plunger includes a first engagement element, and a surface of the interior sidewall of the scoop body includes a second engagement element extending from the surface. The first and second engagement elements mutually cooperate to translate rotation of the plunger to adjustment of the volume of the adjustable scoop.

Abstract: A bottom fillable espresso cartridge base and apparatus and method for filling and plugging the bottom of the espresso cartridge base. The espresso cartridge base includes an open bottom and a press in bottom plug. The top of the espresso cartridge may be sealed by a foil lid or the like, or be open and an adhesive attachable lid may be included for attachment by a user. A first method utilizes a hand held multi-function tool including a cartridge holder with a holder lid to capture the espresso cartridge, and a bottom tamper and plug seating arm. A second method utilizes a stationary base residing on a flat surface, a cartridge holder to retain cartridges on the base, and individual tools to fill and tamp brewing material in the cartridge, and to attach the bottom plug to the cartridge.

The entry port is arranged between the extraction passage and the interior. The extraction passage is arranged in fluid communication with the interior through the entry port, and in fluid communication with an exterior of the base through the outlet port. At least a portion of the extraction passage is separated from the interior by the wall at the outer edge of the wall. The outlet port is arranged in a plane defined by the outer edge.

The outflow tube is connected to an outlet port of the pump. The brewing material holder is configured to hold brewing material at an issue end of the outflow tube. The container is arranged at an issue portion of the brewing material holder. A suction end of the intake tube is arranged for fluid communication with an interior of the container. The pump is configured to draw fluid from within the container through the intake tube and to issue the fluid into the brewing material holder through the outflow tube, to brew a beverage in the brewing material holder and issue the brewed beverage into the container. At least a portion of the intake tube is attached to the container.

The movable water-dispensing member can be configured to move, such as to rotate, due to a force of pressure provided by the flow of liquid. The force of pressure provided by the flow of liquid can be caused, for example, by the weight of the liquid. The reservoir can include a constricted portion providing a venturi effect.

The base in inserted into a pod holder and brewing material is placed into the base. A cover may be positioned over the rim, and a lid is attached to the pod holder to sandwich the cover and rim to seal the pod. The cover, if present, is held taut by the lid of the pod holder to facilitate penetration of the cover by a needle to inject water into the pod.

In another embodiment the brewing chamber cleaner includes a wide spray provided by a fixed nozzle. A base is optionally provided to capture the spray and direct a flow into a bottom extraction needle of the coffee maker to clean the extraction needle.
