  • Publication number: 20130272083
Abstract: A tubular admixture piece for receiving in a mixing device for controlled metering in of an adjuvant into a pumpable mixture has at least one sealing element for producing an at least partially fluid-tight connection between the admixture piece and the mixing device wherein the at least one sealing element is designed as an axial seal with respect to a longitudinal axis of the tubular admixture piece. A housing element of a mixing device has at least a sealing support for axial sealing of the admixture piece, and is also configured to exert a force that acts on the admixture piece in the axial direction and/or longitudinal direction of the through-flow opening, such that the axial seal of an admixture piece received at least partially in the through-flow opening can be pressed against the sealing support by the force.

  • Patent number: 8113683
Abstract: An HID luminaire includes a single luminaire housing that includes thermally isolated lamp and ballast compartments. At least one HID lamp is disposed within the luminaire housing, and at least one ballast is disposed within the ballast compartment. The lamp and ballast compartments are separated by a chamber that includes a substantially nonconductive member, which prevents heat from the lamp compartment from travelling to the ballast compartment. Thermally isolating the ballast from at least a portion of the heat generated by the HID lamp allows the ballast to be disposed relatively close to the HID lamp without becoming overheated and damaged. A hollow, threaded rod extends between and couples together the lamp compartment and ballast compartment. Electric wires connecting the HID lamp and ballast extends through the threaded rod, providing necessary electrical power in an aesthetically pleasing design.

  • Publication number: 20110241932
Abstract: A printed circuit board shield (100) is provided. The shield comprises a sealing surface (120) and a shielding surface (110). The sealing surface is configured to cooperate with, and be connectable to, a sealing region of a printed circuit board (80) upon assembly therewith. The shielding surface is substantially parallel to but offset from, the sealing surface. A concave cover for receiving at least part of the printed circuit board is thereby defined. The shielding surface comprises an array of perforations (130) formed therethrough. The array of perforations is configured to correspond to a location of an electronic component mounted on the printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 7646329
Abstract: A method of detecting a target in a scene comprises the steps of generating a comparison of the value of data elements in first and second data sets, the data elements corresponding to returns from the same part of the scene and setting a detection threshold value for the comparison so as to detect targets entering said that part of scene The method provides improved target detection in the presence of clutter.

  • Patent number: 7632420
Abstract: A method for treating a substrate having a layer or coating of material thereon (such as for example a metal conductor coated with an insulating ‘enamel’) comprises the steps of directing a pulsed beam of laser radiation at the substrate to cause an interaction or adjacent the interface between the layer or coating and the substrate, leading to local separation of the layer or coating. The removal is effected by creating an interaction effect at the interface between the substrate and the layer or coating to create an effect similar to a shockwave which causes local separation of the layer or coating at the interface.

  • Publication number: 20080096764
Abstract: A system for impregnating a superconductive wire surrounded by insulation with a resin provided in liquid form in a vessel, has an input arrangement that introduces the wire into the vessel, a transport device that moves the wire through the resin in the vessel and a pressure applicator that applies pressure to the wire, transversely to its length, at at least one location within the vessel while in contact with the resin, so as to expel gases otherwise trapped within the insulated wire. Each pressure applicator is formed by a co-operative pair of pinch rollers, with one pinch roller of each pair being doubly flanged to provide a substantially central recess to accommodate the insulated wire, and the other pinch roller of each pair is formed with a central tongue dimensioned to enter the recess to trap the wire therein and apply pressure thereto.

  • Publication number: 20070247263
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a solenoidal magnet structure, includes the step of providing a collapsible accurate mold in which to wind the coils winding wire into defined positions in the mold, placing a mechanical support structure over the coils so wound, impregnating the coils and the mechanical support structure with a thermosetting resin, allowing the thermosetting resin to harden, and collapsing the mold and removing the resultant solenoidal magnet structure formed by the resin impregnated coils and the mechanical support structure from the mold as a single solid piece.
