  • Patent number: 11654824
Abstract: The disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for providing a display pertaining to a vehicle payload. An example method executed by a processor of a vehicle payload display system includes determining a weight of a payload placed upon the vehicle and displaying upon a ground surface outside the vehicle and/or upon a windshield of the vehicle, an image that provides an indication of the weight of the payload placed upon the vehicle. Another example method executed by the processor includes obtaining information about a laden weight of the vehicle, determining a weight difference between the laden weight and a payload capacity of the vehicle, determining, based on the weight difference, a payload margin available for loading the vehicle or an excess weight loaded upon the vehicle, and displaying the payload margin or the first excess weight upon a display surface that is viewable from outside the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 11608192
Abstract: This disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for lifting drones to a desired height before launching. In one exemplary embodiment, a drone elevator system includes a looped cable that is engaged to a pair of pulleys. A first pulley of the pair of pulleys is coupled to a lighter-than-air craft and the second pulley is attached to a motor. The lighter-than-air craft moves upwards so as to raise the first pulley skywards and place the looped cable at an angle with respect to the ground. The motor is then operated to rotate the second pulley for moving the looped cable. The cable includes a set of tethers each of which is used to tether a drone. Each tether includes an extension arm that prevents the tethered drone from making contact with the cable when being lifted. Each tethered drone can be launched after being lifted to a desired height.

  • Patent number: 11565571
Abstract: This disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for protecting the health of occupants of a vehicle. In an example method, a health monitoring apparatus in a vehicle evaluates an individual and detects a symptom of a contagious disease. The individual may be already seated in a first seat in the vehicle or intends to enter the vehicle. The health monitoring apparatus identifies a second seat that has a pre-defined spatial separation distance from the first seat. The pre-defined spatial separation distance can exceed a threshold spatial separation distance selected to provide health protection against the contagious disease. The health monitoring apparatus issues an advisory to the individual to occupy the second seat. In another example method, the health monitoring apparatus may adjust an airflow pattern in the vehicle so as to provide directional airflows to protect various occupants of the vehicle against an airborne contagious disease.

  • Patent number: 11453306
Abstract: Electric vehicles arriving at a charging station transmit their state of charge, capacity, and departure time to a computer system. Vehicles are sorted into tiers according to departure time and sorted within tiers according to charging time based on state of charge and capacity. The vehicles are then assigned to queues according to the tiers and ordering within tiers such that vehicles with sooner departure times and shorter charge times are given priority. Where there are multiple queues, vehicles with a shorter charge time may be assigned to a first queue while remaining vehicles are assigned to one or more other queues. Charging stations may have different capacity and vehicles with higher priority according to sooner departure time and shorter charging time may be assigned to faster chargers.
