  • Patent number: 9392464
Abstract: A broadband cellular network (BCN) provides a user equipment (UE) access to TVWS resources. The BCN authorizes the UE to access TVWS resources by conveying a mobile device identifier received from the UE, and a cell identifier associated with the UE's coverage area, to a Federal Communications Commission (FCC)-certified Database and receiving, from the Database, and storing an FCC ID associated with the UE and a set of available TVWS resources. The BCN then conveys, to the UE via a broadband cellular technology, a channel resource information element (CRIE) that includes the cell identifier and identifies the set of available TVWS resources. Subsequently, the BCN re-authorizes the UE to access TVWS resources based on the stored FCC ID and without re-conveying the mobile device identifier to the Database. The BCN further utilizes broadband cellular technology procedures to provide a “virtual” contact verification signal (VCVS) to the UE.

  • Patent number: 9271205
Abstract: A system and method for neighbor-cell measurement reporting in a cellular environment supporting multistate cells limits measurement reporting by requiring that state-specific trigger conditions are met. Thus for example, a dormant cell may need to meet more stringent measurement conditions before a report is generated by the user device, since a current primary cell may prefer to hand off to an active cell. In particular, state-specific thresholds, offsets, and hysteresis values may be used to enforce a preference for active cells, for example.

  • Patent number: 9252918
Abstract: A communication system is provided wherein a user equipment (UE) receives control information from a wireless network. The UE monitors control channel candidates using common reference signals (CRS) and monitors enhanced control channel candidates using demodulation reference signals (DMRS) when the UE is configured in a first transmission mode, such as transmission mode 9, for receiving a downlink shared traffic channel based on DMRS. The UE monitors control channel candidates only using CRS when the UE is configured in a second transmission mode, such as any of transmission modes 1-6, for receiving a downlink shared traffic channel based on CRS. The UE then receives downlink control information (DCI) in a subframe in one of the monitored control channel candidates or enhanced control channel candidates in the subframe.

  • Patent number: 9247506
Abstract: Various methods for controlling an aggressor user equipment (UE) can use two transmission power control loops to mitigate UE-to-UE adjacent carrier frequency band interference to a geographically proximal victim UE. The aggressor UE can select between different transmission power parameters based on two (or more) power values. The usage of any particular power value depends on the time period of the transmission. For example, if a proximal victim UE is scheduled to receive when the aggressor UE is scheduled to transmit, a lower power value may be selected as instructed by a co-scheduler or determined by the aggressor UE. The aggressor UE can also send dual power headroom reports to its serving base station based on the two power values.

  • Publication number: 20160014727
Abstract: The present disclosure describes methods for multi-frame transmission and reception of control information. According to various embodiments, a base station scrambles bits of a downlink-control information (“DCI”) message using a scrambling sequence that is based on the subframe number of the first subframe of a bundle of subframes. In some embodiments, the scrambling sequence is based on the total aggregated resources used for transmitting the DCI. According to an embodiment, the base station performs this scrambling operation after performing a cyclic-redundancy-check operation. In other embodiments, the base station performs this scrambling operation after carrying out channel encoding. In still other embodiments, the base station performs this scrambling operation after carrying out rate matching.
