    Abstract: A failure detection and correction module (FDCM) uses statistical measurement to detect failures in a distributed computing system caused by hardware, software, workflow, deployment, environmental factors, etc. in a component of the computing system, the computing system, or multiple computing systems and produces corrective actions. The FDCM identifies issues from various components, correlates the estimated failures in each level of components and rolls up failures and estimated failures from each level of components to system level estimations of failures, reevaluates the system reliability factors, readjusts the system reliability and system functions from the adjusted reliability factors, and produces intelligent corrective actions to improve both system reliability and the system efficiency. Corrective action includes changing slice storing parameters and rebuild priorities on a dispersed storage system.

    Abstract: A process of the invention analyzes a moving speed using acceleration data by an acceleration sensor and calculates a moving distance of the object. The process removes each of given candidate values of drift components from angular velocity data by a gyro sensor and generates relative azimuths data pieces. Based on the respective relative azimuths data pieces, the process calculates moving directions of the object. Using the moving distance and moving directions calculated, the process creates plural moving loci corresponding to the candidate values of drift components. By comparing the positions of actual starting and end points of moving in a building with the positions of starting and end points of each moving locus, the process evaluates the moving loci and determines an optimal moving locus out of the moving loci, based on the evaluation result.

    Abstract: A dust seal is provided with a tubular fitting portion, a bush end surface abutting portion, a lip portion and a sealing projection integrally formed. The sealing projection is formed to project in an axially opposite direction to the lip portion from a radial inner section of the bush end surface abutting portion and abuts against a chamfered portion of a bush in such a manner as to overlap the chamfered portion. Therefore, at the time of supplying lubricant between the bush and a connecting pin, the sealing projection can prevent a part of the lubricant from entering between an end surface of the bush and the bush end surface abutting portion of the dust seal to maintain a sealed state therebetween. In consequence, the dust seal can be stably held on the inner peripheral side of a boss member, preventing the pulling-out of the dust seal.

As the non-magnetic layer or the low magnetic permeability layer, a material including Cu—Zn ferrite as a main component is preferably used.
